right click paste suddenly stopped working in outlook email

Normally I can use my mouse to highlight, copy and paste text and URL's from just about anywhere (files on my computer or online) and paste into the body of an email in outlook - have been doing this without any issue for more than five years.

Now, suddenly and without any changes made by me and without any obvious explanation -or solution- I can only copy and paste ONE time after a fresh sign in. Thereafter I cannot copy and paste with my mouse - when I attempt to, a different window opens, it has a paste option in the menu but it does nothing other than close the window.

I can paste with the mouse in the to, cc and subject fields as usual / normal - only the body of the email is affected.

I can paste into the body of the email from the keyboard with Ctr-V - please don't answer with that as the solution - it isn't, it's an alternative.

I am looking to fix the mouse problem - it is how I work and want to continue to work.

p.s. Instructions here suggest inserting a screen shot - made two, tried inserting / uploading here but ... that appears not to work either - I don't see any screen shots here do you ?

    It's April 19th, 2023 and I just encountered a similar, yet slightly different issue.

    I lost the ability to paste using my mouse in Excel Online (Chrome) in the span of approximately ten seconds.

    I mouse-click-pasted some data as usual and it worked fine, yet for the next set of data the paste options were all grayed out

    and I received a prompt instructing that in order to paste from a mouse I would need to add Microsoft 365 to Chrome.

    I was baffled but tried adding Microsoft 365, however, there has been no change.

    I am still unable to paste using my mouse, and the paste options in the web app itself are also grayed out.

    Sorry I wasn't able to help you. I had this problem for months and the right click on my touchpad would allow me to cut or copy. But when I hit paste, it had stopped working. So I had to hit control V on the keyboard in order to paste.

    When in Outlook on the home page there are 3-horizontal dots. Ignore those. I used the 3-dots vertical dots that are in Google Chrome in the upper right corner under the "X" to close the page. Then follow my previous posts. While typing this I found that lock symbol that takes you where you need to go. It is located on the left side of the Url address bar where it says outlook.live/mail/0/. I clicked on it and a pop up window appears where you can turn on the clipboard. That should fix it!

    I just have outlook open. The lock symbol is just left of the URL address. Click on it and turn on the clipboard.

    That is exactly what I did, only I found the clipboard in a much harder way. This is the best way to turn on the clipboard.

    I get a lot of pop up to buy Microsoft 365 also but I refuse to pay a subscription. I believe you may have the same copy paste issue, only in Excel. For Outlook, I found that lock symbol that takes you where you need to go. It is located on the left side of the Url address bar where it says outlook.live/mail/0/. I clicked on it and a pop up window appears where you can turn on the clipboard. That does fix it in Outlook. I suspect the clipboard sharing switch got turned off on your Excel page as well and needs to be turned back on. Microsoft did something with its clipboard, probably an update, that has turned off many users clipboard sharing feature which also cuts off the right click paste option.
