How to get rid of a new tab on Outlook upper tool bar stating: Try the new Outlook. It recently popped up & replaced my "delete" tab, which is now inside the scroll down menu.

Edited to add: Note that the registry key applies only to classic Outlook desktop software (2016, 2019, 2021, Outlook in Microsoft Office 365 software). It does not work for Windows Mail.

You're talking about the button in my screenshot? It's not a toolbar but you can hide it using a registry key -

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\General
DWORD: HideNewOutlookToggle
Value: 1

Start typing regedit on the start menu and when the Registry Editor comes up, open it.

Browse to the path, right click on the right side and choose New > DWORD. Paste HideNewOutlookToggle, press enter then right click on it and choose modified and choose modify. change 0 to 1. \

Restart Outlook.

    Why would we be using outlook if the whole reason to get rid of the "try the new outlook" button is so our computers don't install it?! This defeats the entire purpose of trying to hide the outlook notification if we want to prevent outlook from forcing itself on our devices, it's there because outlook is not installed.

    Are you using Outlook that is installed with Office or Windows Mail?

    The only similarities between that Outlook and the new Outlook is the name. But both Office Outlook and Windows Mail have the switch. How you go back to the old app depends on which app... and only Office Outlook can hide the switch.

    That may work fine for removiing the toggle switch, but I don't want the "new" outlook mail at all. I am quite happy with the "old" mail. How can I insure that outlook does not automatically replace my old version. (It has done this twice).

    If you are using Windows Mail, it will be gone in less than a year. And Microsoft will keep trying to get you using it before then. :(

    As far as I know, there is not a way to block it or hide the switch in Mail. Sorry.

    The WORST part of this is, I DID try the new outlook. It sucks. It has no unified inbox. The calendar doesn't support holidays. It's inferior to the Windows 10 mail and calendar app in almost every way.

    What's worse is, it's not just a toggle button that you can accidentally hit anymore... NOW it's a big animated advertisement in your face every time you open Mail. I tried it, I said I didn't like it. I went back to the version I did like. NOW it bothers me even more than it did before... Just stop.

    WOW I DID NOT SEE THAT. BUT WOW THEY ARE REALLY BEING PUSHY AND PUSHING CUSTOMERS TO MAC/APPLE ANY THING BUT THIS.

    Microsoft is a dictatorship. they don't care about us the customers.  all they care about is the money in their pocket. forcing all to conform is wrong. even when they spout out 'you can personalize your desktop etc.' NOT TRUE, yeah personalize to what they want you to have!

    I'M LOOKING INTO OTHER MAIL PROGRAMS AND CALENDARS BUT MOST ALL APPEAR TO BE LIKE MICROSOFT. CHANGE IS NOT ALWAYS GOOD OR FOR THE BETTER.
