How to get rid of a new tab on Outlook upper tool bar stating: Try the new Outlook. It recently popped up & replaced my "delete" tab, which is now inside the scroll down menu.

Outlook | Windows | Classic Outlook for Windows | For business

Edited to add: Note that the registry key applies only to classic Outlook desktop software (2016, 2019, 2021, Outlook in Microsoft Office 365 software). It does not work for Windows Mail.

Hello Dennis

You're talking about the button in my screenshot? It's not a toolbar but you can hide it using a registry key -

Image

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\General
DWORD: HideNewOutlookToggle
Value: 1

Start typing regedit on the start menu and when the Registry Editor comes up, open it.

Browse to the path, right click on the right side and choose New > DWORD. Paste HideNewOutlookToggle, press enter then right click on it and choose modified and choose modify. change 0 to 1. \

Restart Outlook.

Edited to add: I have a ready-to-use registry key in my article at Use Classic Outlook, not New Outlook (slipstick.com)

If General is not there, create your own and use DWORD 32 even if you installed 64bit Office.

I need to remove it from g-mail.

    Hi Brad Milnes1:

Please provide further details. This thread is about removing the "Try the new Outlook" toggle that now appears above the menu ribbon of Click-to-Run versions of Microsoft Outlook (see image below). When that switch is toggled ON it installs and changes users to the experimental (beta) preview of the Outlook for Windows progressive web app (PWA), which users in this thread are trying to avoid. See the MS support article Getting Started with the New Outlook for Windows for information about this new PWA app. From my Microsoft Outlook 2019:

Do you mean that you've installed this preview of the new Outlook for Windows PWA and want to integrate (or remove) your Gmail account as described in Mayank Parmar's August 2023 Windows Latest article at Windows 11’s New Outlook App Now Supports Gmail, Personal Accounts? I signed in to Gmail today at https://www.google.com/gmail/ and can't see anything in the Gmail web application that looks like the toggle switch shown above.
