How to get rid of a new tab on Outlook upper tool bar stating: Try the new Outlook. It recently popped up & replaced my "delete" tab, which is now inside the scroll down menu.

Outlook | Windows | Classic Outlook for Windows | For business

Edited to add: Note that the registry key applies only to classic Outlook desktop software (2016, 2019, 2021, Outlook in Microsoft Office 365 software). It does not work for Windows Mail.

Hello Dennis

You're talking about the button in my screenshot? It's not a toolbar but you can hide it using a registry key -

Image

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\General
DWORD: HideNewOutlookToggle
Value: 1

Start typing regedit on the start menu and when the Registry Editor comes up, open it.

Browse to the path, right click on the right side and choose New > DWORD. Paste HideNewOutlookToggle, press enter then right click on it and choose modified and choose modify. change 0 to 1. \

Restart Outlook.

Edited to add: I have a ready-to-use registry key in my article at Use Classic Outlook, not New Outlook (slipstick.com)

    Diane,

Two years later and this still works as described. Thanks,

Is that the automatic migration in-app notification? Go to Outlook Options > General to turn off Automatically switch - it's at the very bottom. (This option is only in consumer and small business subscriptions right now.)

    Hi Diane,

Thanks for that registry key! M$ doesn't let up on trying to get us to switch, jeez!

Is there an easy way to stop the popups that say, "switch now or later"?

I remember you from my VFP Developer days. Glad to see you're still banging away and helping people. Thank you for that
