Today ads started showing up at the top of my Outlook.com Inbox. They look like emails but I can't delete or block them. In the past ads did show up on the right had side and I could live with that but I don't want them at the top of my Inbox.
I want important emails at the top of my inbox not ads. And don't tell me that this is because I have a free account. My google email account is free and it puts all ads where they belong under a Promotions tab where I can ignore them.
How do I correct this?

You can delete it. But it comes right back. On mine, this usually occurs within a couple of hours. Ultimately, it's permanent if you can't get rid of it for more than a few hours. It's highly aggravating.
Does anyone from Microsoft ever read this catalogue of complaints about adverts? Perhaps Microsoft would care to answer the question of why these bloody nuisance adverts keep appearing.
M O N E Y ! That's the bottom line.
Woah, so I've put up with this deeply irritating practice for a while, with an ad per day appearing at the top of my Inbox which I just delete. I think the practice of putting the delete icon in a different place to the rest of emails is really sneaky.
Today the things have been reappearing every couple of hours. Now THAT really grinds my gears.
