Today ads started showing up at the top of my Outlook.com Inbox. They look like emails but I can't delete or block them. In the past ads did show up on the right had side and I could live with that but I don't want them at the top of my Inbox.
I want important emails at the top of my inbox not ads. And don't tell me that this is because I have a free account. My google email account is free and it puts all ads where they belong under a Promotions tab where I can ignore them.
How do I correct this?

I have changed email app. I will only use outlook for contact functions, but to be honest, if that's the only thing I'll use outlook for, I may as well migrate it all elsewhere.
Very disappointed.

Now I know why you have a filter to block junk, your the ones sending the junk. I am now getting an ad in my inbox from Microsoft and MS just said you can't block it. It's like doing something to my car to make it break down and also owning the towing truck.
Dave, why don't you create a filter for stupid ideas.
Alas I think the answer is obvious: money. If you have a Samsung then you might want to try Samsung Email which is similar but ad free.
I solved this by ditching Outlooka d using Samsung Email instead. It's ad-free and very similar to Outlook (so virtually no learning curve) and I strongly recommend this to any Samsung owner.
I started getting these in the Outlook app on my iPhone. It began after I left a 365 subscription. Ads in your inbox can only cause resentment. I thought Microsoft products were for getting work done. Search Highlights Suggestions are another example of unasked for annoying distractions but at least you can turn those off.
Problem resolved by deleting the app and using Apple's instead (just link the email account). I'd go for a 3rd party app if I start getting ads in my PC mail, but currently that is Windows Mail and there has been no problem so far.
