Use iCloud+ Custom Email Domain with Outlook for Windows

Hi,

I´ve set up an iCloud+ Custom Email Domain with Apple and I wanted to use the custom domain also on the Outlook App for Windows, where my @icloud.com email address is also set up. The customer email domain works at icloud.com and also via the mail app for apple, I can send and receive mails from and to the domain. After the initial set up via the settings from icloud it got automatically added. The domain works like an "alias" for the @icloud.com email. The incoming mails are received/ and the outgoing emails are in the send folded by icloud.com. I tried to add the email as an additional mail account on Outlook, it did not establish a connection to the server. I tried to change the icloud account information via Outlook; selected iCloud account, then clicked on account settings, then manage profile, and the email account; I tried to change the email to the custom domain there, but received the same issue. Do you have any suggestions how to use the customer iCloud Email Domain on the Outlook App, so I can sent and receive mails from that domain?

    Not my experience, works well here except aliases are not automatically determined by the Inbox being used as it is on the Mac. Do you have your iCloud and also the iCloud external domain email accounts set up in Outlook?

    I set up four email accounts in Outlook, one for the iCloud email account and one for each of the three external domain email addresses. Then I verified that email. is received by these four email addresses in Outlook. If you get that far, it should work just like mine.

    If your iCloud email accounts are not fully set up in Outlook, there is documentation online on how to do this. In a previous post I described the non-trivial process I followed.

    I’ve got a couple iCloud aliases and one external domain on iCloud. If I set them up as separate accounts it works indeed but then I get 4 mailboxes with the same emails.

    Surely that’s not a solution.

    In iCloud there is only one account that all my iCloud email plus the three external domain emails are delivered to.

    In Outlook, the iCloud email account is set up with iCloud server using an application specific password for Outlook that is generated by Apple when logged into iCloud.com.

    This will create an iMAP account in Outlook for iCloud email. All email to @iCloud.com and @externaldomain.com will end up in that account.

    This gets a little messy for 4 email addresses, so in my case I set up three additional Outlook inboxes, one for each of the external domain email addresses. To route emails to the right inboxes, Outlook rules are used to move external domain emails from the iCloud inbox to the external domain inboxes.

    OK I get that, but that's not alias support, is it? In every other client, you add your IMAP account once, and there is an option in settings that allows you to add aliases against that account. That used to exist in old Outlook but not in the new one, yet.

    Exactly, that's what we're concerned about, and that's why I use Mac mail. My wife uses Outlook and puts up with the incomplete support for aliases.

    I would only add that there is one more step.

    After everything you also need to manually change the name of your account's email in the account settings, if you don't then the old name will still apply.
