Use iCloud+ Custom Email Domain with Outlook for Windows

Hi,

I´ve set up an iCloud+ Custom Email Domain with Apple and I wanted to use the custom domain also on the Outlook App for Windows, where my @icloud.com email address is also set up. The customer email domain works at icloud.com and also via the mail app for apple, I can send and receive mails from and to the domain. After the initial set up via the settings from icloud it got automatically added. The domain works like an "alias" for the @icloud.com email. The incoming mails are received/ and the outgoing emails are in the send folded by icloud.com. I tried to add the email as an additional mail account on Outlook, it did not establish a connection to the server. I tried to change the icloud account information via Outlook; selected iCloud account, then clicked on account settings, then manage profile, and the email account; I tried to change the email to the custom domain there, but received the same issue. Do you have any suggestions how to use the customer iCloud Email Domain on the Outlook App, so I can sent and receive mails from that domain?

    1. in Outlook 365 go to "File > Add Account"
    2. enter john_AT_home_DOT_com as your mail address (not your icloud.com address) and make sure "i want to add my account manually" is selected under "advanced settings"....

    What do you use as a password in case of a custom domain email? It doesn't accept the generated app key nor my actual password but results with INVALIDCREDENTIALS INTERACTIONREQUIRED -error message in troubleshooting details. This is with Outlook on Windows 11 and the settings are already a bit different since there is no advaced settings -option.

    This does indead work for email - but not for the iCloud Calendar :(

    This no longer works (not on Mac at least) - MS Outlook will now deny the use of any icloud account due to it being a custom domain.

    Thank you Microsoft - This is about protecting the MS365 product more than helping users....

    I got Outlook 365 to work with a custom iCloud Mail Domain. These are the steps to take:

    Lets say our custom mail is john_AT_home_DOT_com (sorry for the unusual format, but its not possible to write out proper email addresses in this forum).

    1. log into https://appleid.apple.com under "email and phone number" make sure john_AT_home_DOT_com is your primary address (not sure if this step is actually necessary, but i added it just in case).
    2. still in https://appleid.apple.com create an "application specific password" and write it down.
    3. in Outlook 365 go to "File > Add Account"
    4. enter john_AT_home_DOT_com as your mail address (not your icloud.com address) and make sure "i want to add my account manually" is selected under "advanced settings".
    5. Select IMAP
    6. enter the following data: incoming server: imap.mail.me.com Port: 993 encryption: SSL/TLS outgoing server: smtp.mail.me.com Port: 587 encryption: STARTTLS
    7. done

    john_AT_home_DOT_com is now added in Outlook 365. It should be possible to send and receive mails with this address.

    If you want to send mails from one of your other aliases eg. john2_AT_home_DOT_com, finalise the setup with the following steps.

    1. log into https://www.icloud.com/icloudplus/ and make sure john2_AT_home_DOT_com is added under "Custom Email Domain".
    2. In Office 365 start writing a new mail
    3. click on the "From" field and select "Other Email Address"
    4. enter john2_AT_home_DOT_com and make sure under john_AT_home_DOT_com is selected under "sending with".
    5. done

    When sending a mail, you can now select john2_AT_home_DOT_com in the "From" field and the mail will have that address as a sender.

    This does not work. I’m running windows 10 with “new outlook” and there is absolutely no “change/edit” option anywhere within outlook settings. When selecting “manage” on my iCloud email account, the only options are “remove” or “set as primary account”. There is no change/edit. I have tried every suggestion to add my iCloud+ custom domain email and nothing works. Is this really the best Microsoft can do?
