Outlook keeps opening multiple windows on macbook (macOS Monterey ver 12.4)

when I run outlook on my macbook air, it opens up multiple windows (up to 50) automatically. this in return freezes up my application.

i've tried to create a new account and reinstall outlook where it will run as expected for a few months and then it restarts to open up multiple windows.

this has been ongoing from running BigSur and now on Monterey.

WORKED! So this multiple window thing just started happening for me today (Mar 8, 2024). Your solution kinda worked for me...I deleted both the folder and the file as per your instructions. The reason I say "kinda" is that instead of dozens of windows opening, I now only have two windows that open, so it's easy for me to close the one extra window. Incidentally, I thought the RED X (BOX) wasn't working when I tried to close the windows, but in fact, it was working, it's just that there were about 40 or 50 windows opened so it APPEARED as if I wasn't closing out of extra windows. Other issue, which I will investigate elsewhere is that my SEARCH no longer works and it tooks me hours to get the signature block to work again. Outlook is one f-ed up program. My company finally got rid of Outlook and is now using Google Drive instead. They are much happier, despite the buckets of hours it took to transfer all old email content and folders to the drive. On a personal note, I'm going to find an email client that works...I cannot use Google Mail (due to cost), but I will look into something OTHER THAN MICROSOFT.

    100% Paul.

They want your monthly fee for their sub-par software and then too bad if you have any issue...OH YOU CAN DIRECTLY CONTACT SUPPORT THRU THE APP.....WOW!!! then what, they simply tell you ( VIA EMAIL) to do the same "fixes" that are in the user forums...THAT DON'T FIX THE PROBLEM. A lot of people have no choice but have to use this "software" because their job requires it. Escape from this BLOATED POC software and you'll see life away from MS isn't so bad..... Thank You

Agreed, Microsoft are very happy to take our money and completely ignore the problem. I think I need to move away from using their apps on Mac and recommend the same for other Mac users. It angers me as this is one of the reasons I moved to Mac because they kept doing this to their operating system Windows now their applications division can't do their job either.

Someone with some authority in Microsoft needs to take some ownership. They make several billion dollars a year ++ from Mac office users surely it is worth it to them.

    Paul

Hi, one temporary fix that i found is a utility called "Officve-Reset", this will clear out all the caches etc and restore you Mac Outlook and not remove any data. The url is:  https://office-reset.com

It works well, but eventually Outlook will become corrupted again.
