UPDATE - HAD TO DELETE AND RE-ADD AS IMAP

I received notifications that Gmail may no longer work with Outlook. However, the communication noted that Gmail will work with Outlook 2019 which I am using. Starting today, by Gmail will not work with outlook. I receive an error

Task '******@gmail.com - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92) : 'Your email server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings. The server responded: -ERR [AUTH] Username and password not accepted."

Is there an additional setting to make this work in Outlook 2019?

I was able to get the POP mail to work again

Here is the workaround Google Support sent me.

We found a workaround for your Outlook issue. You may try tosign in with app passwords

Create & use App Passwords

If you use 2-Step-Verification and get a "password incorrect" error when you sign in, you can try to use an App Password.

  1. Go to your Google Account.
  2. Select Security.
  3. Under "Signing in to Google," select App Passwords. You may need to sign in. If you don’t have this option, it might be because:
    1. 2-Step Verification is not set up for your account.
    2. 2-Step Verification is only set up for security keys.
    3. Your account is through work, school, or other organization.
    4. You turned on Advanced Protection.
  4. At the bottom, choose Select app and choose the app you using and then Select device and choose the device you’re using and then Generate.
  5. Follow the instructions to enter the App Password. The App Password is the 16-character code in the yellow bar on your device.
  6. Tap Done.

Tip: Most of the time, you’ll only have to enter an App Password once per app or device, so don’t worry about memorizing it.

Once you go through that you can use the Generated Password for your POP account

Hope this helps you all

I have actually seen this problem in both Outlook 2019 (Mac) and iPhone 12 Mail (15.5 for iOS). These worked fine at around 6am CDT and quit working around 7:30am CDT. Called Apple and there first response is they don't support gmail or Outlook but explained that it works fine when logging into Google's gmail website using my Mac but not the iPhone or the Outlook on the Mac. After a bit of arguing they escalated me and the tech said the only other thing they can think of is problem with Google servers. That is hard to accept as well because my wife's iPhone is getting mail w/o any issues.

I have also tried deleting and reinstalling one of my gmail accounts on my iPhone to no avail.

Thanks, Buzz. Saved me from deleting and re-adding, which I really didn't want to do.

I was leaning towards what Victor wrote but then started thinking there's good change it's something on Google's end. (At least that is what I am hopeful for and it's something that will be resolved soon.)

If it matters, I'm using Outlook 2021 (desktop).

PS - I meant thanks Colleen for starting the thread. :)

ABHawk, I actually just started working again. I have a strange suspicion that it might have to do with their "less secure apps" changes but the fact that it started working again makes me wonder. Do you think Google is getting beat up by this and backed down from the changes? I use POP3 for a specific reason and prefer it over IMAP.
