Outlook 2019 not working with Gmail

UPDATE - HAD TO DELETE AND RE-ADD AS IMAP

I received notifications that Gmail may no longer work with Outlook. However, the communication noted that Gmail will work with Outlook 2019 which I am using. Starting today, by Gmail will not work with outlook. I receive an error

Task '******@gmail.com - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92) : 'Your email server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings. The server responded: -ERR [AUTH] Username and password not accepted."

Is there an additional setting to make this work in Outlook 2019?

I was able to get the POP mail to work again

Here is the workaround Google Support sent me.

We found a workaround for your Outlook issue. You may try tosign in with app passwords

Create & use App Passwords

If you use 2-Step-Verification and get a "password incorrect" error when you sign in, you can try to use an App Password.

Go to your Google Account.
Select Security.
Under "Signing in to Google," select App Passwords. You may need to sign in. If you don’t have this option, it might be because:
1. 2-Step Verification is not set up for your account.
2. 2-Step Verification is only set up for security keys.
3. Your account is through work, school, or other organization.
4. You turned on Advanced Protection.
At the bottom, choose Select app and choose the app you using Select device and choose the device you’re using Generate.
Follow the instructions to enter the App Password. The App Password is the 16-character code in the yellow bar on your device.
Tap Done.

Tip: Most of the time, you’ll only have to enter an App Password once per app or device, so don’t worry about memorizing it.

Once you go through that you can use the Generated Password for your POP account

My wife and I are having the same exact problem. We share a 365 account and neither of our primary accounts are working as of 8:30ish EST. I was able to set up a secondary email account and that is working fine.

I have the same issue. I upgraded my Office 2013 to Office 365, recommended by Google Site. My IMAP connection to Gmail works, but POP does not.

I'm Diane, an Office Apps & Services MVP specializing in Outlook, and I’m happy to help you today.

That version definitely supports Gmail without requiring 2 step verification and an app password.

You may need to remove the account from Outlook and add it bac . You won't lose mail because it will sync back down - but if you have anything in "this computer only" calendar, contacts, and tasks folder - export them to a pst or CSV files before removing the account.

Try this first - File > Account Settings > Update password - if you reenter the password, does it work?

This problem seems to be with POP only. I was able to get another email address to work with IMAP. Updating/changing password does not work. I have purged my gmail since it was getting full a couple of weeks ago so I would be hesitant to delete my account and rely on a .pst file as I have had problems importing/exporting those in the past due to the size of the file.
