UPDATE - HAD TO DELETE AND RE-ADD AS IMAP

I received notifications that Gmail may no longer work with Outlook. However, the communication noted that Gmail will work with Outlook 2019 which I am using. Starting today, by Gmail will not work with outlook. I receive an error

Task '******@gmail.com - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92) : 'Your email server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings. The server responded: -ERR [AUTH] Username and password not accepted."

Is there an additional setting to make this work in Outlook 2019?

I was able to get the POP mail to work again

Here is the workaround Google Support sent me.

We found a workaround for your Outlook issue. You may try tosign in with app passwords

Create & use App Passwords

If you use 2-Step-Verification and get a "password incorrect" error when you sign in, you can try to use an App Password.

  1. Go to your Google Account.
  2. Select Security.
  3. Under "Signing in to Google," select App Passwords. You may need to sign in. If you don’t have this option, it might be because:
    1. 2-Step Verification is not set up for your account.
    2. 2-Step Verification is only set up for security keys.
    3. Your account is through work, school, or other organization.
    4. You turned on Advanced Protection.
  4. At the bottom, choose Select app and choose the app you using and then Select device and choose the device you’re using and then Generate.
  5. Follow the instructions to enter the App Password. The App Password is the 16-character code in the yellow bar on your device.
  6. Tap Done.

Tip: Most of the time, you’ll only have to enter an App Password once per app or device, so don’t worry about memorizing it.

Once you go through that you can use the Generated Password for your POP account

Hope this helps you all

Please note that, even if some NON-Gmail Android email apps DO manage to download emails from Gmail accounts, I am finding some e-mails to simply be missing. If one is on an Android device and using a NON-Gmail app to read Gmail, then there is a lot of heartburn and frustration ahead with absolutely inconsistent behaviour of those apps in reading Gmail. Emails from two people to my Gmail account never got downloaded to one or more NON-Gmail app, but I know they were received by the server because I see them sitting happily on the web interface to Gmail. At the same time, I was staring at a successfully downloaded e-mail list on one Android device, and, as I watched, the one e-mail simply disappeared..... it just evaporated off the device, like it had never been there to start with!! There is something seriously weird with the present IMAP/POP behaviour.

I suggest folks log into their Gmail on the Web for an extended period of days while Microsoft secretly fixes this disaster whilst they pretend that nothing is wrong. Otherwise, do not be TOO surprised if a friend gets angry because you did not respond to an email...... one which you never received. The truth is, there is a lot wrong here. For folks like me, who prefer POP access, this is an abject nightmare. In miserable resignation, I switched my Gmail accounts to being read by the Gmail apps on my two Android devices. I have at present no idea what to do about Outlook 2019 on my desktop having NOT received two e-mails that are still sitting staring at me on the web interface(!!!) Outlook 2019 is my primary system and I need to be able to rely on it working with Gmail.
