Access Denied in New Outlook

I'm still getting the "Access Denied" error message. The last update I have received was December 14th, 2024. Apparently, this is a well-known issue. I don't know how to fix it, and I'm really frustrated, especially knowing that this was the result of a system update!!! Oddly enough, my android phone Outlook is fine, probably because, I suspect, it's still using an older version of Outlook.

Ya think maybe someone can produce some clear instructions on how to fix this issue for those of us who aren't as tech savvy as some users?

Thanks Stefen, I have a Currys Care Plan & agent tried to sort it out last Friday for me remotely. It seemed to work OK for a day without Ads popping up (am not subscribed to Microsoft 365(?) then back to Ads appearing in Inbox ,delete them & then they might appear in Incoming box (?)rather than deleted.

I cannot now access Windows Mail or previous Outlook. When I try to check inbox it seems to alternate between opening OK & "Access Denied " again.

For some reason I tend to have my Skype open 24/7 & whether it then recognises I have signed in there & the Access Denied then opens OK.

I wonder if my PC is a little "flaky" or Microsoft just playing at Silly B*ggers to persuade me to pay for the 365,which I only use for emailing.

It just seems to be a company operating a form of Professional Ransonware !

Trying the sync only shows my current email address.

So I don't know if this will work long term or for everyone but here is my work around.

Pressed windows key

under recommended apps it showed outlook classic as frequently used

I went to my task bar and removed the new outlook from the task bar. (right click then remove from taskbar)

Then pressed windows key again, right clicked on outlook classic and then clicked on pin to task bar.

Since then when i click on outlook icon on task bar, the classic outlook opens.

Well, I started having this issue a couple days ago and I don't know what caused it. New Outlook will open just fine. I can get a list of emails and delete them, and background notifications work. Trying to open one is where things get strange.

The first email I try to open will open, but then close quickly. Trying to go back to my account will tell me I need to sign in. Trying to sign in will give me the error 0x80049dd3 and tell me to try again later.

My workaround after reading this thread is to open an email, go to the view tab, press the sync button, then go back to the inbox. After that it'll let me open emails normally again until the next time I open the app. Having Edge open bypasses this entirely, but having a browser open so your email client which is also a glorified standalone browser can open an email is just ridiculous.

I suppose I'll just do this until it fixes itself if it ever does. Software is weird like that. At least the website works, so it's not the end of the world. I just like knowing why things happen.
