Access Denied in New Outlook

I am using the New Outlook and when I log in and click on a message and try to view it, I get an access denied message. Yesterday, I was told that I had to log in but I wasn't given that option. Today, I just get an access denied message with no log in recommendation.

I am an Office 365 Home subscriber, using Windows 10. I can get my Outlook messages by loading Outlook through Office 265.

I found this text on another Microsoft Community website. It is the (only??) certainly working solution to the "ACCESS DENIED" problem - Andrew Campbell (Independent Advisor) 14 Mar 2024:

"Unfortunately this is a recurring issue with the New Outlook. From what I gather, the best way to get round this is simply reverting back to Old Outlook.

While I understand this may be an annoyance, it will ensure that you can access your account and functionality in the meantime."

It's very easy to do - turn the slider in the upper right corner off and you're in Old Outlook (See SCREENSHOT)

I have read, that New Outlook would replace the Old Outlook of Windows 10/11 in late 2024.

For example in Dec 2023, New Outlook has been reported to still be in Beta version.

I apologize for the inconvenience this is causing. in little or no time this will be fixed

    Regards

Fixed in no time? One year later.... Suddenly access denied while i am forced in using the 'new' outlook. The old one just worked. I didn't ask for this one nor did i ever mentioned i needed another one.

Since Microsoft is blocking the access to the old Outlook, will they pay the losses i have because they force me to only be able to use this 'new' Outlook whilst it doesn't work???

I really had it with this, this is the final straw... The dozens of problems i had since they forced this on customers and not one is resolved, even after sending the feedback multiple times.

Hello Golfer! Hello! My name is David, and I am an Independent Advisor.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this problem, and I hope I can assist you in finding a satisfactory solution

Outlook stores the mail items in an Outlook data file, i.e., OST or PST, based on your email account type. If you have configured a POP (POP3) email account, the mail items are stored in a Personal Storage Table or PST file (also known as a personal folder). When you start Outlook, it fetches the information stored in the PST file and displays it in Outlook, such as your emails, contacts, attachments, tasks, notes, calendar items, etc. However, if the PST file is damaged or inaccessible, Outlook may fail to read or access the File and display the following error "Access denied". The error is usually reported after a Windows upgrade or major update. However, it may also occur due to the following reasons,

    PST corruption
    Oversize or large PST file
    Damaged Outlook profile
    Virus or malware intrusion
    Faulty or incompatible Add-ins
    Storage drive issues
    Encryption

You can follow the guide below to fix:

Do not hesitate to send a message if you need further assistance

I read a little more closely your answer, which you gave on 30 May 2023.

I want your reasoning, why you provided these instructions (Feb 8 2022 = also very OLD information) for this problem:

How to Fix the Error “Outlook File Access is denied. You Do Not Have the Permission”?

Excerpt from this instruction: "The methods discussed in this article can help you Troubleshoot and fix the "Outlook File Access is denied. You Do Not Have the Permission" error in Outlook 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010, and 2007"

These extensive and complicated instructions you have given are just not helpful at all with this NEW Outlook problem!

    Read my texts 5.4.2024 + 16.4.2024!

I ask you again: Why did you give false instructions to thousands of readers of this website from May 30 2023 – they were in no way related to the NEW Outlook email application in question?

And the next day you said: "in little or no time this will be fixed".

Your title is INDEPENDENT ADVISOR. The description of that title says: "Independent Advisors are community Freelancers who use their proven skills and experience to answer technical questions in designated categories.".

The instructions you give MUST be correct and YOUR INFORMATION up to date!

HOW DO YOU COMMENT ON THIS?

At first I thought it was an issue with the VPN and so I turned it off so that the servers could identify my computer as owner of the new outlook email, and so I logged back into my email account, again "access denied" but given an option to remove another outlook account. Hmm maybe there is an issue adding additional outlook accounts and switching between the two?
