Outlook saying I need more storage.

Hi there,

I've used a live.com account for years, and have always logged in through my browser to view emails. Today, the page loaded with a thin red notification at the top stating "From February 1, you'll need more storage to send or receive email."

Obviously, for a start, it's 16 days past February 1 which is weird, and my email is all working fine at the moment.

Clicking on "Manage Storage" opens a window, which states that my total used for my Microsoft Storage (things backed up from a laptop I hardly use, didn't even realise that they were being backed up to be honest) is 7.8GB out of a 5GB limit. I tried unsyncing my desktop on said laptop, but all it's done is remove everything from that laptop, which is pretty frustrating as I just wanted to leave the data on there and just free up some space on the Microsoft storage.

Anyway, I'm not overly bothered by that by now, as I'm more worried about my emails not working. Separate to the Microsoft storage, it lists my "Email Storage", which is 7.6GB out of 15GB. Does anyone know why I'm getting notified that I'm in danger of losing my email and pushed to buy a ridiculously expensive price plan?

    Looks like Mircrosoft had this planned to force everyone to pay for storage. They have let thousands of junk emails go through our mailboxes, so they are taking even more space now, and they are sending themselves at least two emails a day trying to get everyone to upgrade and buy storage. So they have actually created spam that takes even more space

    Its painful after all these years with Hotmail (I was actually promoting it over gmail), but at this point Micrsoft just hurt its users intentionally taking advantage of the situation. So time to switch from Hotmail

    Hi Charlie, Go back to your computer and click settings. If there is OneDrive listed, click that and uncheck the 3 boxes in there. You have to do it on the computer not "manage storage" online.

    Not sure the OneDrive will be listed in Win 10. Also check the restore and backup section on the computer for a hidden OneDrive section.

    I deleted everything on onedrive and it is now working says I have used 1.5 gig of 5 fingers crossed it keeps working. Now I just have to stop the loads of X rated spam and junk coming in. How I don't know?

    Bill gates is a creep. I never subscribed to onedrive. It was pushed down my throat. Now they want to charge me because Bill gates needs another Yatch. They can delete all they want I have backups on disk

    I have to say to my monkey brain, saying you are over the 5GB limit, but under the 15GB mailbox limit, so it freezes sending and receiving mail, does not compute. If I'm at 5.1GB, and you stop me from doing stuff, that sort of sounds like the limit to me, not some magical other bigger number that doesn't seem to matter in any way.
