Outlook saying I need more storage.

Hi there,

I've used a live.com account for years, and have always logged in through my browser to view emails. Today, the page loaded with a thin red notification at the top stating "From February 1, you'll need more storage to send or receive email."

Obviously, for a start, it's 16 days past February 1 which is weird, and my email is all working fine at the moment.

Clicking on "Manage Storage" opens a window, which states that my total used for my Microsoft Storage (things backed up from a laptop I hardly use, didn't even realise that they were being backed up to be honest) is 7.8GB out of a 5GB limit. I tried unsyncing my desktop on said laptop, but all it's done is remove everything from that laptop, which is pretty frustrating as I just wanted to leave the data on there and just free up some space on the Microsoft storage.

Anyway, I'm not overly bothered by that by now, as I'm more worried about my emails not working. Separate to the Microsoft storage, it lists my "Email Storage", which is 7.6GB out of 15GB. Does anyone know why I'm getting notified that I'm in danger of losing my email and pushed to buy a ridiculously expensive price plan?

    I have deleted many videos and files wirh precious memories so sad. Even when deleting I am not gaining more storage the message remains the same. So 'Manage Storage' does not work for increasing storage? I am surprised it is not on the news. We should still be able to respond to emails coming in even to direct them to another email address but I can't do that at all. Feel like I am being held captive unless I pay for a subscription.

    I would like to make this information available to Martin Lewis and his brilliant team at 'Money Saving Expert' in the UK, who has helped many people over the years. This is definitely an issue he would be able to investigate because of his profile on the radio, tv and social media. I am very surprised that Microsoft isn't already on the 'worldwide' news (esp. Channel 4, UK) and other media channels given the impact this situation is having on millions of users to outlook/Hotmail.

    Microsoft completely ruining everyone's lives!!! What the hell are they thinking???? You suddenly have a 5GB limitation somehow of "Email attachments" while your Email says you are still under 15GB. I have 10 out of 15GB on Email, and 9GB out of 5GB microsoft storage, and I can not receive or send emails with attachments unless I pay 20$ per year to access an email I already had since the beginning of time. My whole studies/work/life is on that email. Is microsoft THAT dumb and stupid? A whole lot of important emails I was supposed to receive lost their way just because they are so unclear about what the hell is going on?

    After 25+ Years too!.......I deleted over 5000 email messages, the whole Sent folder and a bunch of other stuff. Can't get rid of it in the Deleted folder to "Restore then Permanently Delete". It's been 4 days. MS "tech support" are useless, they just want me to keep deleting email folders but everything is stuck in Delete anyway, so won't work. This is definitely FRAUD. I'm locked out altogether, can't send or receive any emails. This SUCKS MICROSLOP!!

    I deleted everything in one drive, then signed out of one drive. This worked and then I could delete the red warning bar and also the other warning regarding storage. Still receiving lots of spam directly into my inbox especially in the evenings, why?
