new Outlook - change mail spell checker language?

As a product manager, I understand the strive to making the product simpler and remove unnecessary features. The old outlook admitably is cluttered with too many features. They have my full support there.

Yet, I believe it was a short sighted decision to remove the multi-language spell checking. It shows they don't have a good understanding of ways of working in our cultures. Unlike in US, in Europe, we live in a continent with many languages and people are often multi-lingual or have learned multiple languages.

When I compose emails in any language other than the default language, I end up having red line under most of the text of the email which is disturbing. Additionally, the spell check is almost mandatory when I write email in a language which is not my native language.

I strongly recommend outlook team to reconsider adding multi-language spelling check. Specially now a days using AI, it should be easy to detect the language and automatically spell check the correct language.

I found the same, but 3 languages are not enough, and unfortunately it seems not to work anyway. For me it always is stuck on the language I (prioritize) move to the top of the list. If English is on top and I write German, then all German words get marked as wrong, and vice versa. Moving the Language that I'm currently writing to the top, solves the issue. But as soon as I write in an other language, I have to dig into the editor menu again.

Seems like US organizations developing software are regularly forgetting, that outside the US there are actually people capable of communicating in more than one language.... 😏 It's not just Microsoft

That makes this email service quite unuseful

Hi Jovaras,

Once the languages have been selected in the Manage spellcheck languages, then the spellchecker will automatically use all the selected languages to spellcheck your email. It will give you suggestions in multiple languages.

If you just want to get suggestions in one specific language, I guess you can delete (temporarily) the other languages in the Manage spellcheck languages, then add then back once you're done.
