I am using the free version of Outlook.com and followed the forums and help how to set up a GMail sync to Outlook.com.

However since two days I got this clicking on the "Sync Email" menu.

Even the X button on the upper right corner does not operates when being in this menu.

I tried this menu in browsers like Edge, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Opera.

All the same results.

Questions:

  1. can I use Gmail sync using free version of Outlook.com?
  2. do you know this

Mine also worked today. Bizarre, but good to stop these daily reminder emails!

    Hello all,

After reading Members messages about the Outlook Email sync email settings option gradually becoming available I checked again today and found that it did allow me to go to my list of emails to edit / re-submit the password details required for 3 email addresses that had stopped downloading to my paid Outlook [Hotmail] account.

Unfortunately although I also checked that all of the other details that are required to get emails downloaded to Outlook as well as re-entering the correct passwords the email addresses failed to update.

I tried that 4 times - each time checking every detail and definitely entering the correct passwords - still no updating - message: update failed.

Over the years that I have been accessing all of my emails via my Outlook email account I have had to update my email details / re-enter passwords quite a few times so I do know how to do so correctly unless something has changed regarding the actual email addresses sync email details ?

The settings that I checked are those that I would have entered a few years ago [I have them listed] - if I am remembering correctly some were changed at the time when some POP3 accessing was changed or removed [?] for Outlook accessing and then some perhaps when Yahoo mail made changes to its email accounts accessing in about 2017.

A friend has suggested that perhaps there has been some change in the STMP details or a change back to POP3 settings for those particular email addresses - one Yahoo address - one Googlemail address and one Rocketmail - but I donreally know how to check whether that could be the cause of the update failed` problem.

I doubt whether that is the cause for the failed update of the Yahoo email address because some other Yahoo emails are updating and receiving messages.

Obviously I realise that unless any Members do know that there have been some recent changes to those Email providers remote / Outlook accessing settings no-one would be able to help me with this - although I would be grateful to be reminded of the sync email settings for Yahoo mail - Googlemail and Rocketmail so that I can check whether my settings are still correct please.

    Chris.
