I am using the free version of Outlook.com and followed the forums and help how to set up a GMail sync to Outlook.com.

However since two days I got this clicking on the "Sync Email" menu.

Even the X button on the upper right corner does not operates when being in this menu.

I tried this menu in browsers like Edge, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Opera.

All the same results.

Questions:

  1. can I use Gmail sync using free version of Outlook.com?
  2. do you know this

Outlook | Web | Outlook.com | Settings

Sync accounts page in Settings | Outlook.com still U/S this morning, 23rd Feb, 9:00 GMT.

Microsoft status page still falsely claiming that "Everything is up and running."

Has Microsoft no respect for the truth?

I now have one of those regular email messages in my Outlook.com account:

Please update your credentials for the account <synced email account>

These errors are mostly once-off but I cannot use the sync page to check that now.

I had to send a test email to that account and wait for the email to be retrieved by Outlook - it does still work.

Yes, with sync actually working in the background the most important functionality is there.

Nonetheless the sync page cannot be reached for checking or updates so the expression "Everything is up and running" just cannot be applied to Outlook.com right now.

Furthermore there were no alerts on the status site at all when Outlook.com failed to send emails out, putting a copy in the Sent folder as normal (which incidentally confirms I really did send them), and outputting no error messages. So these outgoing emails appeared to be sent out but actually disappeared. The sent function is working again now but the outgoing emails have never been sent.

So the status site is meaningless.

They might just think that it's a minor bug.

    Microsoft still reports:

    Image

    on https://portal.office.com/servicestatus

but the sync email facility still does not display.

How does Microsoft justify this falsehood?

NB correction: Sync is working in the background - I am receiving emails from the sync accounts.

So while I cannot access the sync settings page, it IS working.

Obviously I cannot update these settings but as of now, I do not need to.
