I am using the free version of Outlook.com and followed the forums and help how to set up a GMail sync to Outlook.com.

However since two days I got this clicking on the "Sync Email" menu.

Even the X button on the upper right corner does not operates when being in this menu.

I tried this menu in browsers like Edge, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Opera.

All the same results.

Questions:

  1. can I use Gmail sync using free version of Outlook.com?
  2. do you know this

At last, it seems to be fixed. The sync email link now works and allows connected account passwords to be updated. But if you are using a Chrome browser, make sure any saved passwords are also updated or the message to update credentials will continue to be posted.

I can now again access the "sync email" page.

As Ron has pointed out, you cannot add new accounts. MS have removed this.

Existing accounts will continue to work with current credentials, assuming they are valid.

The 'connected accounts' feature is only available to users that have existing connected accounts.

Forward the email from the pop account to your outlook.com account.
