I am using the free version of Outlook.com and followed the forums and help how to set up a GMail sync to Outlook.com.

However since two days I got this clicking on the "Sync Email" menu.

Even the X button on the upper right corner does not operates when being in this menu.

I tried this menu in browsers like Edge, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Opera.

All the same results.

Questions:

  1. can I use Gmail sync using free version of Outlook.com?
  2. do you know this

The SMTP server is now given as "SMTP server name smtp-mail.outlook.com"

This was smtp.live.com for many years and was withdrawn without any notice that I was aware of.

    It just started rejecting connections.

    smtp-mail.outlook.com does work.

The sync email pane is still not working as of 23-Feb 14:20 GMT

Ron, do you have any comment on the Microsoft status page still saying "Everything is up and running." when it clearly it is not?
