My Outlook 2016 "Start Up Options menu" has no drop down submenu

I have Outlook 2016 on my home computer. Within the last few weeks, on reopening Outlook, I have received the message "Outlook closed while you had items open . Reopen these items from your last session ?".

I have tried to remove this function via File; Options; General; Start up options, but  my Start up options title does not have a drop down menu !

I have opened and reopened the Options menu, but to no avail. Nor is there an option to press on the heading "Start up options" which is located between Privacy Settings and Attachment options

I'm sure that I must have closed Outlook in the past without closing all items, but this message has only begun appearing within the last week.

Is there a fix?

    Hello CSG-08

    Good Day!

My sincere apology if I was not able to come back on time due to some issue. Let me continue to help you.

To be honest, I am still waiting for the update coming from our internal team for this matter. As of now you may try to follow these steps as your work around turning off the connected experience in privacy settings (error message disappeared), but the start-up option is still missing to correct the error**.** As what they other moderator suggested below. When it comes to you startup issue. Once I have the information, I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

    Regards,

From the inbox screen, I went to file, account settings, server settings not changing any settings, then clicked NEXT and I received a message "we're getting things ready" and then "Account successfully updated" message. I've opened and closed messages and stopped and started outlook about 10 times with no reoccurrence of the message that started this thread. Will need to keep testing to verify improvement. Update: still getting the message. No change.

    Hi Garrybock,

Have you tried unticking "Store my outlook settings to cloud" as first suggested by Pete a couple of weeks ago. Under 2016 Outlook >Options >General untick this option and see if message reappears.

I did it and haven't had the pop up message for days now. Still no options under Startup lower down in General however.

Hope M/soft sought it all out sooner than later as Petes & my fix is simply a work around. But after days it certainly has stopped the nuisance message popping up everytime you open outlook.

Still not good enough though is it M/soft!!!!!!?????

Hello Volkard - try this translation, i.e

    Hallo Garrybock,
