Hello,
As from 3rd March 2023, on my 20 year old online outlook email account, I now receive need more storage messages.
It says I am using around 6GB when there is only 5Gb available.
I thought the limit was more than 5GB, I vaguely remember some indicator in the past that showed I was nowhere near the limit.
After checking the available info I find the following - *"You have 5 GB of free cloud storage with your Microsoft account shared across your files and photos in OneDrive, attachments in Outlook.com and your Microsoft 365 apps. You also get 15 GB of free Outlook.com email storage which is separate from your Microsoft cloud storage."*I do not use cloud storage just the email account admittedly with thousands of email stored. This info suggests I have a limit of 15Gb in Outlook yet when using around 6Gb it says I need more as I'm over 5Gb The message on the outlook account states this was taking place from 1st Feb 2023 as well, yet this comes up from 3rd March.
I do not know if something has changed, or is wrong, or if I have misunderstood this.
It seems to me that contacting Microsoft is almost impossible ?
Thanks. Mike. UK

Mike.
I would just like to add the following after spending months on this with Microsoft.
They way Microsoft have gone about this is nothing more than a scam.
Retrospectively effectively lower the limit which was already low to start with compared to other email services, is blackmail.
This has been a swindle, a scam and something MS should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves for.
Never mind the sleight of hand BS about the email account still having 15GB of storage.
It is now 5GB when attachments are included - that is the con.
I had a lengthy phone call months ago with the escalation team and it was clear this is deliberately designed to be a scam.
Everything they said crumbled when challenged over the 40 mins or so of BS.
For all this and the trouble caused to myself and no doubt many others I can only say - F.U. Microsoft

Hello,
Somewhere in this now lengthy thread months I mentioned that I did get in touch with microsoft.
I think I had initially filled in some support form and was replied to by their escalations team months ago.
Although it might have been an email to the CEO which got the response.
I can't remember where I filled in the support form but I had a lengthy email thread with them.
I had a few emails from their escalations team, then received a phone call which I was told to expect.
I made a few posts around 22nd March 2023 (page 5 or there about) describes the phone call.
There may be other mentioning of it in other posts but I listened to excuses about how the limit hasn't really changed due to how they now categorise attachments etc.
The escalations team have long since stopped replying to me.
They did give me a couple of months free paid service, then when that ended the account locked up until I set up payments.
The other option is of course to delete thousands of emails to get under the new limit but for me I decided to just pay and take the easy option for the time being.
In one of the post on 22nd March I attempted to give out email addresses but this platform censors them.
I had to write them out slightly cryptically, at meaning the at symbol, dot mean a dot etc, here again -
The CEO email which got me through is easy to find, no spaces -
Satyan at microsoft dot com
A general escalations email which I had a lengthy thread with, all one word no spaces -
microsoft escalation support at microsoft support dot com
Hope that helps. But my replies were months ago.
Mike.
