My Facebook was hacked and the email address changed without my consent. How do I get it back?

I'm having the same experience, they changed my emails and I am going round in circles trying to get back in. I found the ID page, but it says you have to log in to upload your ID. How did you send it?

I'm in this exact same boat and devastated. Going around in circles trying to regain my account but seems impossible as hacker has changed all emails etc. Have you had any success? Any tips?

Your friends account, as they created it, is now gone. My husbands account was hijacked and the middle-eastern individual eventually called to ransom my husbands account, via fb call, to another account that was linked to my husbands original account. He threatened to share nudes of me everywhere (that don't exist so I laughed at him when he was engaging with me), and even demanded ransom from my son and other members of our family in order to get my husbands account back. Your best bet, LET IT GO! Especially since it is ALL gone. My husband kept engaging with the hijacker and the hijacker kept up the antics. I quit engaging with him and contacted everyone who I knew was friends with my husband and told them to remove him off of any groups messages and unfriend him and what was happening. I have a son who is capable of recovering accounts, and we were finally able to add a new email address, but these hijackers have a software that either notifies them and they intercept when they get the message that "were you just trying to log in to your facebook account" or they use a software that immediately sends them a reset password page, and they do. My husband asked the guy why they do this, and he said because people WILL pay for their information. PEOPLE. . .IT IS FACEBOOK!!! This hijacker eventually got frustrated with my husband when he would not comply, and began threatening the safety of our family. My husband contacted the FBI and basically the only thing you can do is go to the FBI site and file a IC3 form. The address is https : // (the three) W's (and a dot ) ic3 (dot) gov/Home/FileComplaint . Local authorities will not do anything. If you can get the email address and the phone number that your account was changed to (we were able to early on when my husband was still able to log in because he had never logged out on his phone) add that on the complaint form. The two phone numbers on my husbands account were +1 numbers and his first name at outlook(dot)com; that was spelled wrong.

When your account is still early on hijacked, you'll want all of your friends to report "you" in messenger. DO NOT try using the 'pretending to be a friend'. Because FB will ignore it. . .it is not a cloned account. It is YOUR account that has been hijacked! There is an option to list it as 'hacked'. I can not remember the steps to get to it, FB does not make this user friendly, but have your friends/family do this before they 'block' your messenger account. After I found the 'hacked' option and asked people to do this, things began disappearing on my husbands page. . .pictures, videos, reviews and even posts until the account is no longer my husbands and is worthless. :/

EVERYONE should turn on two step authentication. . .but set the number/email to another person within your house. Keep ALL personal information OFF of FB, people. If you are in such a panic when your account is stolen, then maybe you need to rethink what you post or share (even in messenger). Remember, if your account is hijacked they have access to ALL of your messenger messages. When I was notifying my 'family' account members not to talk to 'dad', the hijacker actually asked 'why I would say things like that' within that family thread. :O If you need to share private stuff, do it in person or use and ENCRYPTED service like Signal or Whatsapp. DO NOT use simple passwords. Let google generate on for you. If you are on the receiving end of a hijacker asking for your help, in my case he was contacting me (as my husband) because he 'lost his bank password'. I asked him where we met and he would avoid answering. I immediately called my husband and continued to engage with the 'hijacker' while I was telling my husband to get into his fb account, where he was able to screen shot his 'new' contact information. It is a long drawn out story of events. . .but the hijacker began sending screen shots to my husband of things that were on my husbands account AND in past emails (remember, he has my husbands email and phone number because they were on his fb personal information page before the hijacker changed them). . .anyway. . .I am all over the place, I apologize. Make sure you change your email passwords after you log out of all devices.

POINT TO ALL THIS. . . put two point authentication on everything that offers it. Go into your browser settings and fb settings and find out what devices are logged into your account OFTEN. Log all devices you don't recognize out and immediately change your passwords using a generator! Stop putting your life on the inter-webs. Treat it like your wallet!! If your account has been stolen, you should consider contacting the SS administration to put a secure measure on your number. You should also contact credit bureaus and put a compromised identity alert on yourself. They may try to sell you monthly monitoring services, but if you have a major credit card, they offer that for free. ;) DON'T trust 'facebook contact' numbers you find in searches. Before I could tell my husband that FB won't talk to you via phone, he contacted on of those numbers and some guy told him to download an app that would allow him (the "fb tech") to fix it. When the guy verified it was installed, he hung up on my husband. My husband uninstalled and called our son who walked him through other steps due to that 'app' install. DO be leery (and I have seen part of a thread within this thread, stating the person 'negotiated' from a $500 to a $300 payment to get their account back) of ANYONE wanting money to reinstall your account. The hijacker that spoke to my husband told my husband that they ask for $50 because people will pay it quicker than if it were higher. To the person who paid $300 to get his account back, it actually costs you more. Just uninstalling an app does NOT make your account go away. If you have third party apps, BE CAREFUL. Not all apps are 'fun and games'. And they can be, and sometimes are, used to steal your information. If you are going to uninstall apps, make sure you disable you account with the 'company' you signed up with, first. You should do this on you PC sites you no longer engage with too.

My husband lost some wonderful pictures and videos of our children growing up from 2009 up until a week ago, he lost a lot of memories. . . yes, this sucks. But, IT IS FACEBOOK! I know this sounds drastic, but treat it like a loss from a hurricane or a house fire. It is gone, you can't get it back, but you can rebuild. :) Just rebuild safer next time.
