My Facebook was hacked and the email address changed without my consent. How do I get it back?

Hi, so getting my account back wasn’t that easy. I had to send in my ID twice, to verify it’s me. Trying to log in from a browser that I had precise used helped. While it took some time for them to actually send me a verification code, the hacker put down a second email address. I was able to remove them once I got access again.

I went to the forgot my password page when logging in and clicked no longer have access to these, then I was asked for my ID & I believe to describe the reason for verification. It took like 4 or 5 days to get back into it the account and set up two factor verification, but the sending in my ID & proving it’s me was the way to go, as there’s no direct way of contacting Facebook with this issue.

Exact Same thing happened with and I also needed to provide twice ID as the first time I just changed password, deleted the unknown Email address and logged out to log in again. That would not work - it would redirect and ask for 2 factor code which obviously I never enabled {2FA}, we need to change password along with that enable 2 factor Authentication. review all security settings, remove all devices, all apps which uses fb to sign in and yes -- Very strong PW should be created.

For me also the unknown Email address was from outlook.com and how could anyone remove my primary mail just like that-Considering he had my password, still I thought a code would go the original mail for confirmation for deletion. I got no such mail. I think Facebook does not provide otp to original email as there can be case where your email itself is hacked and cannot access it.

But good thing is if you claim that its hacked and deactivated and follow FB steps from the identify page, FB then provides recovery code to both the mail addresses, the original one and the new one, but the Hacker had enabled 2FA, and and he had the advantage. Through Mobile number recovery also the 2FA set by hacker comes into picture. But Finally a valid ID saves you instantly. At first I uploaded a Voter ID Card from Government, After 10 minutes FB replied basically that with the evidence I submitted they could not do anything. I was already demotivated and giving up and then just for the sake of trying I uploaded my Passport Snip. After 15 mins FB reply came instructing me to click a link and get back to your account which would again ask for that 2FA code and you would be stuck but at the end of the mail, they also included a randomly generated Alpha numeric String which has the power to log in directly into FB without any dependencies and that thing is valid up to 30 days. As I said before first time after getting back I just removed that unknown email, changed Password and logged out and it would not work but that unknown email would be gone, from there no matter how many times you try to reset password by the 6 digit verification code which would be sent to your mail, it would either say too many code attempts, try later or code is not valid and expired. Thus I again uploaded id and again got another Alphanumeric code but this time did it differently. The way is to remove the unknown email, change password, enable 2FA and review each and every security setting, unassociated all apps using FB as login, Delete all your devices saved and force sign-out from any session if it shows active anywhere. Then only it would work.

I recovered within 5 hours from the time I received the first mail-- "Did you just remove your email address from Facebook".

I was sleeping that time, I saw that mail after like 2 hours.

I just want to know How the hacker removed my email address and added his with less probability that he knew the password as I did not get any login notification in my mail also. the very first mail started from "did you just remove your mail address?"

And My Mail already had MFA so less chance that the mail id itself was hacked.

can you give us a step by step tutorial? I had to do the same thing for my instagram and I cant find that option at all for Facebook
