Hi,

I have been receiving an email about resetting my Microsoft password so far today i received 6 messages with the code to reset. This email has not been open in awhile, however i do have it linked to my phone for easy accessibility to emails.  How do i get the emails to stop.

I assume that those trying to access my account know my tel number otherwise I would not receive the text message. Correct?

Most of your phone number is obfuscated when you have access to your account. Even when you log into your account you can only see the first two and last two numbers of your phone number. So even if your account was compromised they can't see all of any of your secondary security measures. And they can't add or change any of those measures without access to your alternate email or your phone.

They probably don’t know your telephone number because if they did they’d be calling you all they have is your email address and they’re trying to get into it

I have the same since mid may twice a day trying to access. this never happened before. the ips are from india Ukraine brazil salt lake city (which is not my location) ect . the  fun part is when I tried to add two step verification Microsoft never sent me the code to my second email so I cant have two way authentication activated . frustrating.

Do you have your mobile phone number added to your security settings? They sent me a verification code to my mobile phone so I could sign into my Outlook account.

Today it became even worse. I am not only getting the password reset emails but since today I also receive sms text messages for onetime access. I hope somebody at Microsoft is investigating what is going on. Based on the amount of replies there really a lot of people affected.
