In the latest update of Outlook for Mac I can no longer see a count of the number of emails in my inbox.  Is there a way to get it back?

Agreed. 2 years now and they haven't fixed this - what a bunch of ****.

    Microsoft you suck.

Couldn't agree more about this not being fixed/restored after years of requests - and now we're being forced to switch to the "New" Outlook for Mac. Incompetence at its best!

13 pages of people wanting it. No reaction from Microsoft.

I think the UX designers made the bottom too flat/small to show this number so they just skipped showing this vital piece of info.

For me, the number was always the trigger to start filing and clean up the inbox.

no one listens to customers anymore...

Yes - please please bring the total count of emails back. I'll be switching back to classic now for that one specific feature!
