Just made the move from PC to Mac after 20+ years and this makes me miss the PC already. Please add this simple, but incredibly useful, function back.

In the latest update of Outlook for Mac I can no longer see a count of the number of emails in my inbox. Is there a way to get it back?

Actually no it's not. It only counts conversations/threads not items.
I've tried twice now to move to New Outlook. Incredible to see this issue has still not been resolved. I've moved back to classic. Shame on you Microsoft! Listen to your customers - they are giving you clear feedback!
This has been incredibly inconvenient for mailbox management. It would be great if this could be resolved.
Incredible. The "new" Outlook for Mac has lost some basic features - I can't Export and I also can't see the total count of emails (both read and unread) in my inbox. Crazy that Microsoft would remove these features. I need to switch back to the old version
