My Microsoft account is locked with Compliance Lock since for 11 days now, with no end in sight.

I get the following message when I try and log in:

Your account has been locked.

We've detected some activity that violates our Microsoft Services Agreement and have locked your account.

Unlocking your account

To unlock your account, you'll need some additional assistance. Navigate to "aka.ms/compliancelock" and we'll get you to the right place.

I have completed the Account Reinstatement form ((https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/concern/AccountReinstatement)) and got this reply:

This is an automated message to let you know we have received your inquiry regarding your Microsoft account. Your request number is xxxxxxxxx and we will get back to you as soon as we are able. Please do not submit additional requests as this will add additional volume and only slow our response.

We sincerely apologize for this delay as we know this means you may not have access to your account. We are working to resolve your case and will update you as soon as we have additional information.

All duplicate requests will be closed and responses will be sent on the original escalation.

Sincerely

Microsoft Customer Protection

I still haven't heard back. I can't access my email/contacts/calendar/OneDrive and it's very frustrating. I have important emails I cannot access. There is supposed to be contact within 24 hours – it is now 11 days!

I too have been stuck in this situation. I’ve had my account locked for 20 days. Had an email saying that that they couldn’t identify me and they were closing the case and would not discuss any further. My account is attached to my companies source code and on the personal side I’ve got over £400 in my Microsoft account balance.

I’m in the process of writing a letter to MS HQ and then as last resort will pursue legal action.

I just thought I would add my two cents, as I went through this process with Microsoft.

They locked my account in July 2020 and through arbitration, I just found out exactly what the problem was. They gave me no reason except for that I violated their terms of service. I made lots of calls and filled out lots of forms and got very little info except that there was no way they would unlock my account, and I violated their terms of service.  After reading in this thread or another thread (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook\_com/forum/all/microsoft-account-locked-compliance-lock/c99f2fd3-c03f-414e-83f2-eb9eba2db4b3?page=1) I discovered that I could go to arbitration and I decided to do that.  I spent $200 but microsoft paid me that back in a month. After going back and forth with inside council and outside council, I found out there was an photo on my OneDrive that violated their terms of service.  It had an image their AI deemed inappropriate.  With a little more back and forth I finally was told what the image was, it was a joke, but in this ZERO TOLERANCE world they shut down my account.  They are not going to turn it back on.  Fortunately, all of the data I had across all of my microsoft services attached to that account and email address was backed up locally on my computer, so I didn't lose anything.  If it wasn't backed up, it would now be lost to me forever.

So as a word of caution, which may be too late in this thread, do not rely solely on the cloud as your source of data.

I was able to create a new MS account with a different email address and everything is fine.

I can't tell you what the offending was, but it got into the OneDrive, because my Samsung phone was started automatically backing up WhatsApp images from group chats to the OneDrive instead of the Samsung server. Samsung made this change in July 2020, and that is what triggered the AI to close my account.
