Outlook - Android - Storage Use

Hello,

I'm not the first one I think to ask this question, but I cannot find any satisfactory answer - Is their any way to control the space  used by the Outlook Android App?

I just removed the account the App was linked to this morning : it was going up to 1.2 G - managing 01 Email account - linked to 01 cloud.

Gmail app - to which 2 Emails account (same one and one other) are linked is using Gmail for a total space of 258 MB - and access to data, including files enclosed to the email, is as fast as with outlook app.

Even if I would like to keep going using Outlook app - it seams just to be impossible to use until the question is solved.

Hope Outlook developer will one day find the way around this question - or at least to allow to switch most of the data on the SD card.

    Sounds pretty much like me then -and good to know we have different non-MS email accounts added - that almost proves is definitely an outlook problem, not anything to do with the provider of the other mail service....

    I too have everything on laptop and desktop... but it would be nice to have it on the phone too... like I used to.... :)

    On my devices it seems the app is collected a large amount of logs for IMAP accounts (and some for SMTP) in the app-internal folder

    /data/data/com.microsoft.office.outlook/files/Osa/OutlookServiceApiLogs_2021-01-07-00

    and similar folders with the respective date value containing files like these:

    osa{2021-01-06-22-01-00}_002146_1148427_sync_imap.SyncMessageFlags.8340.req.xmlgz

    osa{2021-01-06-22-01-00}_002147_1148427_sync_imap.SyncMessageFlags.8340.res.xmlgz

    Hi - unless I'm doing something wrong, I'm not finding anything at all in the equivalent folder on my Galaxy S9

    Yet in the last five hours outlook has consumed 2Gb of additional storage - but I can't find any evidence of it in the filing system... but I'm not very expert at finding my way around the Android OS.

    Thanks for the info.  I don’t know either where or how to check the IMAP logs. Where is the “app-internal folder”?

    I have been doing more Google digging on this problem. It seems to have been a problem for years. Many people describe the symptoms that I (and you) have. They notice it when they get a large data mobile usage invoice even though they have been using WiFi.

    I just got a notice from my carrier that I've use 10.5G of mobile data, so I did some digging. All of the data usage was "background" data from Outlook. To make it stranger, it all happened within 1 hr, in the middle of the night, while I was at home connected to my wifi. What gives?? My Outlook account is for work only, so I can't figure out if this is an error on my phone, or something the corporate server may have triggered.

    The MS response is just to turn off background data, mobile data usage and syncing. Not very useful and not solving the problem. If, as it seems, Outlook is doing some strange things in the night I do not believe it can be anything to do with IMAP logs.

    I have just installed MyDataManager app – it may help keep track of what’s happening.

    That is interesting - and I think it is different from my problem.  My problem is not using any mobile data - and nothing out of the ordinary.  The screen shot below is wifi.  Outlook has used a whole 2.18Mb of mobile data this month to date.  And has crashed twice already.
