Outlook - Android - Storage Use

Hello,

I'm not the first one I think to ask this question, but I cannot find any satisfactory answer - Is their any way to control the space  used by the Outlook Android App?

I just removed the account the App was linked to this morning : it was going up to 1.2 G - managing 01 Email account - linked to 01 cloud.

Gmail app - to which 2 Emails account (same one and one other) are linked is using Gmail for a total space of 258 MB - and access to data, including files enclosed to the email, is as fast as with outlook app.

Even if I would like to keep going using Outlook app - it seams just to be impossible to use until the question is solved.

Hope Outlook developer will one day find the way around this question - or at least to allow to switch most of the data on the SD card.

    Question for all: do you have more than 1 email account sync'd inside this app? I had my outlook, and a 2nd outlook, and an imap acct. I just did a full delete of the app, then reinstall, and am so far only using my default outlook (mainly because it is the primary but also because it is stored on my phone and I didn't have to do much to get the app working with it again... probably stored on my account due to my usage of the Onedrive app.)

    Also, inside the app, there's an option for support. I had a reply already, within a few hours. I'm just pointing them to this thread. I ask you all to do the same. I think the crashing is related to the lack of phone storage, and the real problem here is that the Outlook app is hogging massive resources including phone storage data. Let's focus on this problem and the crashes may go away.

    Yes - that seems to be the common problem - more than one account - and possibly the fact that the additional account is IMAP.  It's not lack of phone storage - it's Outlook filling the phone up... I don't think it matters how much storage you've got... Outlook will fill it up.

    It's working fine for me with just the one MS Exchange account - but as soon as I add a IMAP account, it fills up over two days and crashes.

    Same with me. Outlook automatically takes my Microsoft account as e-mail #1 (which I hardly ever use). I then add my IMAP account. And Outlook starts hogging all the phone's memory. I reset Outlook yesterday after it got to >16GB. This morning it is only 0.44 GB. Give it a couple of days, it will soon be swelling again.

    Go into your "Developer Options". Scroll until you find one that says something to the effect of: Force apps to use SD card (or external).

    Depending how you access files on your device & the brand, when you are looking at the storage map of your device (or when you access Outlook via APPS in Device Settings, there will me an option to install on your SD card.

    The wording changes and with the last Android update for my Samsung Galaxy (yesterday) some system & app operations have moved under different headings.

    If my solution is a bit convoluted, do a Google search for "Force Apps to use external Android.

    Yes but: "You won't be able to add a micro-SD card to the Pixel," which is what I have. In any case, using an SD card is only a workaround. Microsoft should fix the Outlook bug.
