Outlook - Android - Storage Use

Hello,

I'm not the first one I think to ask this question, but I cannot find any satisfactory answer - Is their any way to control the space  used by the Outlook Android App?

I just removed the account the App was linked to this morning : it was going up to 1.2 G - managing 01 Email account - linked to 01 cloud.

Gmail app - to which 2 Emails account (same one and one other) are linked is using Gmail for a total space of 258 MB - and access to data, including files enclosed to the email, is as fast as with outlook app.

Even if I would like to keep going using Outlook app - it seams just to be impossible to use until the question is solved.

Hope Outlook developer will one day find the way around this question - or at least to allow to switch most of the data on the SD card.

    I'm not trying to be a jerk - because I share your pain. (I just had and SD micro get corrupted about two weeks after installing it. I can't even format it anymore!) But, I cannot lie, the insipid stubbornness of Outlook not even blinking at what I imagined were your Dr. Frankensteinian whoops and hollers of presumed victory did give me a good laugh!

    For me it seemed like the app was behaving better the last few months, until about 2 weeks ago when my phone again ran out of storage due to outlook ballooning up to 3GB.

    That was when I discovered I could switch Outlook to use external (SD card) storage in the settings. I excitedly switched to external and it went through the motions of copying the data over, but then the internal storage stayed the exact same size. I wiped the data and cached and the internal and external storage grew within half a day both back to 3 GB. So external storage does absolutely nothing. I give up. Its hopeless.

    I think the size of the storage has a lot to do with pictures and attachments. My email is full of them so data consumption is large.

    Wow, what a saga! I'm supposing @TPPerlman's post that there may have been an update is accurate? It's been quiet here.

    I'd like to just contribute a data point, although I don't think I reach the threshold of complexity you all have. I have Android 9 and a very simple phone. I have 5 @outlook email accounts active in the Outlook app with my personal account nearly a decade old with tens of thousands of emails in the inbox. I have not experienced any runaway memory grabbing with this configuration. My data file is hovering around 500Mb and has grown, I believe, just from incoming mail alone. Getting tips for reducing the data file size is what brought me here. Similar to a prior comment, my Gmail APK is around ⅒ the size of Outlook's with a much smaller data file as well. The total count of emails should be about to equal.

    Was the MS tech team ever heard from again?

    I'd like to try it... but when I enter the email I want to add, which is a btinternet.com account, the app tries to register it as a yahoo account and won't let me bypass it.... Still, I've been managing without it for six months... so I guess I can manage another six months... or even the whole of the rest of my life before they actually provide something that works.

    Although to be fair the yahoo/btinternet tie up is one of the greatest FUs I think I've experienced....

    I'll keep trying.. .maybe I can find all the details and set it up manually.... but is it worth the effort....

    Thanks for the update. I will give Outlook a new try. Currently, I am using "Email App" from Playstore. I also use Outlook Calendar as a separate App. They work well in combination.
