Option-Drag to copy an event in the new Outlook for Mac?

I like the look of the new Outlook for Mac. But the functionality of the Calendar seems to have lost a lot of things compared to the old Outlook.

  • I can't Option-drag a meeting to create a copy on another day or a new time (it's a standard way of doing things on a Mac and worked in the old Outlook)
  • I can't drag an event to another calendar in the section at left to move this event to this calendar.
  • When creating a new event, there's no option to change the reminder time for the event. I have to create the event, save it, open it again, go the event options, change the reminder and I still have to click on two buttons to save the change. Way too much trouble.

Am I missing a magic option somewhere?

I'm working from home on a Mac, connected to an enterprise version of O365 at my university.

Hi Christian,

Thank you for posting your issue on Microsoft Community. There are several features that aren't yet available in the new Outlook experience and some known issues such as Mail and events can't be moved or copied between accounts. However, our product team is investigating this issue in the new Outlook for Mac. You may switch back by turning off the New Outlook switch to avoid this issue.

For detailed information see under Features not yet available in the new Outlook for Mac/Known issues

Your time and understanding will be highly appreciated.

Best regards,

Shyamal

May I add my frustration to the fellow users who have commented. This is such a basic function that I guess everyone needs. I need to be able to work from multiple calendars and to copy events from one to another - including shared calendars. At the moment this is causing me a great deal of unnecessary work. Please, please can this be sorted soon. I can't see if it worked before the update, why it can't work with the new. Or is Microsoft not listening to their users?

Hi Microsoft, Covid aside, this issue ChristianGingras noted above back in October 2020 is still just as irritating in July, nearly August 2021.

New Outlook is AWESOME in so many ways, but as a professional work suite the basic functionality of being able to set up an event as a recurrence or change certain parameters without setting it then reopening it and making those changes is crackers.

The copy and paste issue is just bizarre - Gmail has it so sussed with duplicate this event setting - but i purchased MS Office 365 and i do like it, and what i want most please is for it to work optimally. Please MS, fix this
