Microsoft Account Locked (Compliance Lock)

Hi,

When logging in to any Microsoft service I receive the message:

Your account has been locked

We’ve detected some activity that violates our Microsoft Services Agreement and have locked your account.

Unlocking your account

To unlock your account, you’ll need some additional assistance. Navigate to "aka.ms/compliancelock" and we’ll get you to the right place.

When I follow the link and fill out the form I received the reply that I violated the Code of Conduct and won't be able to access the services anymore. Any charges to my linked credit card will be stopped.

It does not tell me how I violated the Code of Conduct, nor does it tell me how to reinstate my account, while the form I filled out is called "account reinstatement". It also does not tell me how to retrieve my data.

The form states: "Your account has been suspended for suspicious activity, sending unsolicited emails, or for violating of Microsoft’s Terms of Use agreement, such as hosting photos, video or other content in violation of the Code of Conduct."

I'm pretty sure though I did not send SPAM or hosted/posted/shared inappropriate content. As for suspicious activity, I'm not sure what is included here, but I'm a basic user of the services.

What I would like to know is:

  1. How did I violate the CoC? In my opinion you can't just cut people off without providing a clear argument on what happened. As far as I can tell I did not violate any of the 10 commandments listed in the CoC.
  2. This account has existed for 23 years and never before has it been reviewed for any violation (that I know of). How can you just disable it and tell me I will never be able to use it again? (without providing any reason)
  3. How will I retrieve my data and access my purchased and payed for licenses?
    • Hotmail email conversations (not a priority as I don't use it for email and my last email sent was from March).
    • Onedrive data, including pictures of the early days of my children's lives. (I pay for additional storage)
    • Access to my Azure resources, connected to my MSDN subscription.
    • My (payed) Skype-In phone number I use for my business.
    • My MCP ID and transcript. This is my professional learning transcript but also counts towards my company's Microsoft Parnter Network competencies.
    • My digitally purchased XBOX games and apps (not a priority)

I've called and chatted with support, local and world-wide, for different services, but all are receiving the same answer from the CDOC team, as can be found under ticket number ***removed for privacy***, which I find unacceptable.

It's been 14 days now... Please help!

Regards,

Reinto_123

I had the same thing happen to me. I moved all of my files from Google Drive over to my OneDrive account and the next day I was locked and it's been a week already. Microsoft support has been unable to give me any information besides completing the form which I did immediately. I like others have a huge portion of my life that's now been taken from me and i'm already digging through any archives I have to see if I can get back a small fraction of it.

If anyone did pay for any services, and Microsoft didn't resolve this issue to your satisfaction, i'd recommend going through arbitration or suing them in small claims court as they say is our right to do in their agreement, https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/servicesagreement/default.aspx, see Binding Arbitration and Class Action Waiver. I intend to do so, and seek compensation for the service time I've paid for that they have not provided me with the services I have paid for.

Sorry for my delayed reply. They didn't tell me which file but I figured out later what happened....So, one year ago, someone posted a video on one of the many whatsapp groups that I'm in, I saw the video then, was terrible indeed, but I didn't care to delete it from my phone. So, when Samsung Cloud uploaded my phone content to onedrive,  the problem happened.

I have never shared it still with any one.  I've deleted it permanently once I got access again. So, while I am grateful for getting  my access back, because data was actually a "part" of my life and this has been a scary experience,  I  was about to lose my mind on it . I still can't understand why Microsoft is treating customers in such a harsh manner. A warning message at the beginning would have been a better way. Microsoft , Please be good and grant back access to those people who trusted you on their life data.

    WAIT.

    Microsoft just answer ME:

    Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry as to the status of your Microsoft account. A thorough review was necessary before responding to your request for reinstatement.

Our review determined that images or videos of terrorist acts or extreme violence were shared from your personal OneDrive account. Content which contains graphic violence shared through OneDrive is a violation aof Microsoft’s Code of Conduct, specifically this provision.

iv. Don’t publicly display or use the Services to share inappropriate content or material (involving, for example, nudity, ****, pornography, offensive language, graphic violence, or criminal activity).

Because of the dangerous nature of this content, our terms of use are clear and we conform to those terms, including closing accounts that have been associated with this content, regardless of how the content came to be stored on the OneDrive or the account holder’s intent.

Unfortunately, we cannot restore the account or provide any content.

This is a joke or a bad nightmare.

In that account there are photos of my family, taken from my camera, the max violence pic are probably call of duty screenshot...

    • how do I get back my MCP Certification?
    • how do I get back my Office 365 PAYING Account?
    • how do I get back my Emails?
    • how do I get back my Volume Licenses?
    • how do I get back my ONEDRIVE data?
    • how do I close the suspended account so I can recreate anotherone with the same name? So I cannot lost the mail address?

I've never shared with anyone my content, it's just a backup
