Hi Zeal,

Glad to help you here. Along with the “Categories” option, Microsoft Outlook for Android will also get a new floating action menu to help you quickly access a few essential features. You will be able to access the menu by tapping and holding the compose button. You will be able to access the menu by tapping and holding the compose button.

The upcoming “Categories” feature on Microsoft Outlook for Android will allow users to group emails, events, and contacts based on customizable categories. Once released, the feature will show up as a new “Categories” option in the app settings.

Tapping on this option will open a new page, which will include a couple of predefined categories and a button to add a custom category. When you tap on any of these predefined categories, you will see a pop-up that will let you change the category name and color. However, it isn’t clear how these categories will be displayed in the inbox. So you may update the Outlook at first to have a try whether it could work or not.

Hope that this answers your concern. If you have any questions about this issue or I misunderstand your meaning, please feel free to reply and I will answer for you. Thank you very much.

Regards,

Rebecca

Sorry, I did just check it and found that there are assignable categories from within the > apps > contacts pane (on the bottom of the Outlook app) on Android devices.

I do not see the option from within the mail view, nor do I see the categories that are applied to certain contacts appearing on any of the emails itself.

I only found that you can assign categories on contacts from within the app.

In iOS it appears one can assign categories directly onto the emails, which would of course be much better.

I have just checked with a colleague and their iPhone has had categories available for the last couple of days. We are based in the UK if that makes a difference.

I guess MS has prioritised IOS over Android :/

I swear I'm not yanking y'alls chains lol. I'm on iOS, just opened the app this morning and my categories are there. Don't know about Android.

That’s the exact feature I’m looking for! In the question and answer, both of you mention Android. I’m guessing the same feature will be released to IOS as well. Please confirm. And if you happen to know the timing, I’d like to know that also.
