Many unsolicited Microsoft verification codes.

I'm getting a few codes minute for the last hour or so.  I've checked to see if someone was accessing my account and there was no evidence of it.  I'm receiving texts from a handful of numbers and i don't want to block them in since i do need to get verification code from time to time, and the number i get the code from varies.

    how many times have we replied to this post now, and not one answer from Microsoft. whenever I check what activity my account had or how the person attempted to login, it doesn't say anything. it only tells me my own successful attempts. not helpful at all, MS sucks for service. can't ever get a hold of anyone, only generic article pointers that lead you in circles. if your too big of a company to be able to handle bad issues, then maybe rethink your services. oh wait, your rich, who cares right?

    I’m getting messages with a single use code which I have not asked for. Is this a threat, it must mean they have accessed my account?

    I have received three of these emails with codes. I'm confused though. If I was the person attempting to get into my account and repeatedly put in the wrong email, how would emailing me a code I can't access help me in accessing my account? Normally, I would receive a text code. My concern is are the people trying to gain access to my account receiving these codes in a text as well? Or are these fake phishing emails? I've also noticed the unsuccessful attempts appear to be from an IP address almost the exact same as my own. Is this IP masking or is it possible a neighbor is responsible?
