Cannot add Teams meeting to a single occurrence of a series

Hello,

We have a new issue - when a Delegate tries to convert a single occurrence in a series to a Teams meeting she gets a message telling her she must convert the entire series to a Teams meeting. (""This is one appointment in a series. To make it an online meeting, open the meeting series and try again.")

She does not want to change the entire series to a Teams meeting.

She states that she was able to do this until about a week ago. When opening a recurring meeting, she would get prompted and choose the single occurrence then proceed to add the Teams meeting to this single event only.

We are also in the process of moving users from Islands to Teams-only mode and I'm not sure if she was recently moved to TeamsOnly.

Same behavior as described in this locked & unanswered thread - except ours is a Win10 environment:

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thank you,

Brett

Just received an update from Microsoft:

Due to the popular demand Teams engineering team decided to re-enable this feature. According to Teams engineering team that they have reverted this feature on Sep 14th.

Restart Outlook/Teams apps and check if there's any difference

I agree this is a bug not a redesign feature. Why would you take aways a feature constantly used by the Executive Administrative Teams world wide? The last thing we need is a time consuming work around. Please resolve this issue so we can go back to enjoy using Teams efficiently. Thank you!

Thank you for letting us know the feedback you got from Microsoft. Is there anything we can do to help? Should more of us submit a Design Change Request? If so, where do we go to do that?

Same here. Case was closed as it's By-Design.

    Hi Melvin,

Unfortunately that's not something we recommend doing, I would suggest to use OWA if you'd like to do this or we can look into pursuing a design change request
if you'd like to go down that route.

The reason it still works in OWA is because online meetings don't distinguish between recurrence and master meetings. I have had a Microsoft Premier Support case open since August 19th. I provided Fiddler traces, screen recorder files and Outlook .etl files from multiple examples. Every day we get more and more reports of this issue. So far, it affects six Executive Admins in our company. The latest reply from Microsoft was this morning:

I understand your frustration, and I really do appreciate your patience during this troubleshooting process. We have reviewed the information provided and have conferenced with our technical resources. Per our research and findings, the feature function is now by design. If you would like, the next steps that we can take is to submit a Design Change Request. We can get this DCR reviewed and go from there. I have gone ahead and attached the Business Impact Statement below to fill out so we can go ahead and submit this on your behalf.

This is ridiculous. Clearly this is not a feature, but a bug. Since this affects only delegates, it has the effect of causing serious problems for VIPs, who often don't manage their own calendar. What is the purpose of a "feature" that precludes the addition of a Teams meeting to a single occurrence of a recurring meeting, and only for a delegate? It makes no sense.
