ToDo, Flagged Emails and opening in Outlook Desktop

When I open MS to Do app and open whether it is an email flagged or a task from my planner in teams when I try to open it, it opens in the web-based instead of the desktop. Am I missing a connector to my desktop or something?

Wow, over 3 years later and still the same problem. Good to know the fix isn't coming anytime soon I guess. Add my voice to the list of people who think it's silly that this is an issue.

Organizations don't necessarily have web mail enabled. I use the web client for my personal email sometimes, but it would not be suitable for work. Seems like once a year I get excited about using To Do and then rediscover why I don't. Using the first bit of an email to search for it in Outlook is cumbersome.

I understand the fix is difficult, but people are not going to stop using the thick client no matter how much you want them to.
