I am paying for Office. I can't use it properly. My One Drive files are deleted and I can't add any files. And I can't get Microsoft to communicate with me through the chat and phone links.

This is very bad customer service!

Sorry to hear of your troubles - but am not surprised. Sounds like there are other things going on with the PC. A good local tech might be able to help (I repair pc's for a living). Regardless, MS should be supporting you. Have you tried to reach out to support for the the MS store? I am not sure how one would go about doing so but I do believe they have support just for the store - but I'm not certain of this.

At the very least you can request a refund for anything you purchased. If they won't grant it then take it up with your credit card company - assuming you used one to make the purchase.

Problem with MS is that they are a licensing company that publishes software for other manufacturers to us on their systems (with MS Surface products being the one and only exception to this - to my knowledge) . That puts the onus on the manufacturers for support - at least in theory. Nevertheless, once that warranty is over - it'd be nice if MS would step and do the right thing by offering support just for the O/S. But none of that is true in your case because you purchased an app from their store. Seems to me either the publisher of the app itself or MS should be willing and able to step in and lend some support. You're right - nowadays it's all about the money grab. Grab it and go - seems to be the new business model in America.

Apple, on the other hand, is the publisher of the O/S AND the manufacturer of the system onto which that O/S is installed. A one stop shopping experience, if you will. That makes all the difference. Even during the pandemic I had no problem reaching apple support. And never - NEVER - have I ever heard an Apple rep first determine whether or not the machine was still under warranty until they would/could talk to me. Yes, if it's a hardware issue and it is out of warranty then any repairs are at the cost of the consumer. But that's been a rare event in my experience. And regardless, there's always someone to TALK to that will usually guide you in the right direction, warranty issues notwithstanding.

Good luck to you my friend. Wish I could've been of more assistance.

Over a year later and I still go to geek squad for help because they’ve done more for me than Microsoft tech support EVER could in a million years. You can’t call anyone and virtual support doesn’t help at all for deeper specific issues. My PC hasn’t worked properly for months because some idiot tech support agent made me do a bunch of things that messed up my PC. I don’t know how these things work so I trusted her. These people don’t get paid to help you, they get paid to answer the phone. DO BETTER MICROSOFT

I was brightly informed that Microsoft has moved its Technical Support Online...

Wow. Great move. I bought a very expensive laptop. I immediately upgraded me to Windows 11. Fine. I used a Migration app to move some of my data from old to new. OneDrive ignored the old settings. Went mad and locked up trying to sync all of my files. Eventually I had to uninstall it to get my machine back into my control. Now the App does not work properly (what a shock) since I chose NOT to spend more money with MS.
I used the online chat "support" since we have NO other option.

Did I get resolution? Of course not.
Was I satisfied, Was it Easy? No.

Should I continue to spend with Microsoft? No. I am surely not enthused to do so ever again.

Sorry to hear of your difficulty and I totally understand and feel your frustration with Microsoft.

Yes, I think Microsoft has really shot itself in the proverbial foot by moving their support online. They might as well just have discontinued support altogether - at least that would set up the customer with accurate expectations.

A word to the wise: I've been making, installing and repair computer systems (and peripherals) for many years and if there's one thing I've learned about Microsoft's "new and improved' versions of their Windows operating system it's that to NEVER, EVER jump on the upgrade bandwagon - not at least for the first nine months after its release date. To do so is volunteering to be one of their beta testers (in my opinion). But alas, you took the plunge so one can't look back at that point. At least with Windows 10 they offered pretty good transitional support - I guess those days are now over.

I'm telling ya' - Apple is going to see a lot of people make the switch as a result of the lack luster (translation: non-existent) support experience Microsoft offers.

Is anyone up in Microsoft's ivory tower listening?! I doubt it.
