What shortcut might archive messages on outlook.live.com?

On several occasions, I have accidentally archived messages while typing them. Possibly sometimes while reviewing them. I have done this while typing a combination of keys. Lately, there is a prompt after it happens, and I can undo it. Previously, there wasn't. I have asked outlook support, but the person helping me does not believe me. He keeps insisting that it is E just because the references say so. However, I typed capital E multiple time in response e-mails, and it didn't do anything (thus debunking the reference). Also, it doesn't make sense that Microsoft would program a capital letter without any other key with it for a shortcut, when people might be typing it in e-mails. It could in fact, be in somebody's first name, so that doesn't make sense. I have given two reasons why it doesn't.

i am getting absolutely no help from Outlook support. I have told the person multiple times that I did not type capital E (besides typing it multiple times in the e-mail). These people also seem to think that unlinking my phone is the solution to everything. He knows that the e-mails keep getting archived by me typing on my computer' keyboard, but he wants me to unlink my phone to solve it. I sometimes feel like some of those people may just be searching for instructions to help people. Indeed, I have had a different problem that solved on its own after it was caused and fixed after an outlook update. Throughout troubleshooting, they also thought it would fix it by unsyncing my phone. That particular solution was given to me for three different issues, and for two of them, it was solved without doing so. The third one is this, but the factors involved prove it has nothing to do with my phone.

Please help if you have knowledge or experience in this issue. Archiving messages definitely has nothing to do with capital E.

    i tried to do the same thing, but it won't work. i typed e several times during the recording, but nothing happened. I think that on my keyboard, it only happens when several keys are pressed. If that isn't true, then it must only happen occasionally while typing an e-mail. But i really think that it is at least two keys typed simultaneously. It doesn't make sense to me. i still find it strange that outlook.live.com's support does not seem to really want to look into the issues that I ask about. They always seem to want to prove it must have something to do with my laptop, or a password problem, and never a programming issue, or something to do with any other error on their part. I have had issues resolved after they had one update cause an issue, then another update resolved it.

    I was able to replicate this issue that others are having and figured it out as the following.

    The issue was replicated in the following steps:

    1. Press "Shift",
    2. Lift your finger off shift
    3. Type the letter "e"

    Doing this for some reason automatically shelves the message into the archives. I've disabled keyboard shortcuts in Outlook (web app) and still it persists. This interferes with my typing a LOT if my messages constantly archive while I'm doing a reply.

    Interesting. I just tried this perhaps 30 times in a row, sometimes typing He and other times just space, then shift, release shift, then e. I could not get it to happen, and oddly, ever since I made my post it completely stopped. I have no idea what is going on. Perhaps it took a week for Office365 to realize that I turned off all hot keys in the settings?

    well, as far as i know, neither E, nor e ever made this happen while I was typing, unless it happened once in a while, because it always seemed it was several keys next to each other on accident, but eventually Microsoft implemented an undo feature.

    Strangely, I logged back into my computer tonight and tried replicating my scheme and found that it FAILED to archive like you and the other commenter are noting. However, I also remembered that earlier today I turned off the outlook keyboard shortcuts. So I re-enabled them and logged out, logged back in to the Outlook web app and performed my scheme. It ended up working and the message was archived after I pressed "shift", took my finger off "shift", and then pressed the "e" key (on QWERTY layout, for those readers who are international).

    So in my case, my issue is tied to the fact that the keyboard shortcut is not acting like a true keyboard shortcut. It should be "shift + e" pressed together, but instead the outlook app is thinking that I'm still pressing the "shift" key when I let my finger off and go to type the "e" key. Another thing I found was that when I turned off "keyboard shortcuts", it didn't actually turn them off. I had to go multiple times to the accessibility menu in "Settings" to turn it off because for some reason the choice wasn't saving. I am working on the hypothesis now that if I turn the keyboard shortcuts off and log off the web app, and then log back in, perhaps the outlook app will keep my choice permanent.

    But, if you're finding that it's happening once in a while, maybe perhaps the issue is that the "keyboard shortcuts" feature is bugging out. It's turning on and off at random, perhaps?
