How many people can meet in a Microsoft Teams video meeting? Is there a limit to internal and external guests?

If guests join on the web does this limit the number of external guests in a meeting?

Thank you,

Diane

    Hey Hector,

The New Webinar options follow the meeting rules and limitations i.e

    Scheduled Meetings/Webinars (Outlook/Teams calendar):

    • 1,000 participants
    • 20,000 View/Listen only participants

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/limits-specifications-teams

See also the introduction text which mentions the same 1,000 limit:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/2021/05/11/introducing-webinars-in-microsoft-teams-easy-professional-webinars-to-engage-customers/

For reference Live events cater for higher volume:

    LIVE Events

    • Audience size - 10,000
    • Event duration 4 hours
    • 15 concurrent live events per tenant

    NOTE:
until June 30 2021, Microsoft have temporarily increased this to:

    *Audience - 20,000*

    50 events per tenant

    *Event duration 16 hours*

    Hope Helps
    Kelvyn

    Hi There,

Is there a message that a user (#251) who tries to join will receive after reaching 250 capacity?

    Thanks.

I am also trying to determine anyone beyond 250 receive a message or if the presenter will receive a notification or statistics on how many people tried to access the meeting.

    Does any one know?

    Hello Igor.

    Two different platforms.

MS Teams Meetings have to be a MS Teams account.

Using MS Live Events however, anyone that you share the link with will be able to view the broadcast. If you want them to be a presenter in your Live Event, than they will need to link their email account to the MS environment and they will need to download the MS Teams client on their own device. No cost involved, just need to setup prior to the event.

    I hope that helps.

    Doug

As of 4/17/2020, four video screens can be seen simultaneously in any MS Teams meeting.

Does Microsoft intend to make Teams a bit like competition and allow more than 4 video screens? I must admit that, in a business context, 4 video screens might be a bit short...
