Hotmail account repeatedly locked

On Sat Jan 8, 2022, my outlook/hotmail account was temporarily locked due to "unusual activity". I requested a verification code, and my account was unlocked. I changed my password. I logged in OK the next day. I can receive emails, but as soon as I send an email, my account is locked again. What can I do?

    Another person here who is having the exact same issue, since Thursday 14th.

    running out of mobile numbers to use to get in!

    After reading this thread, is it fair to say that everyone on here has been using the email addresses in question for a very long time? first email address ever, over 20 years?

    Please find a fix soon MS.

    My outlook email continues to be blocked for over two weeks now. I only use Outlook. With great misgivings I deleted all my send files yesterday but it did no good. I am also getting messages when I try to enter a phone number more than once to unblock the account "usage limit exceeded try again tomorrow." I only know so many people that I can ask to use their phones to unlock my account. Went to Microsoft Support twice, got two different case numbers and absolutely no help at all. Pat G

    Does he use a mail program like Outlook or Thunderbird?

    Or does he access his account on a web browser?

    Outlook, unfortunately, describes BOTH a mail program on a PC and the web-based mail.

    So does your dad use the program or the web-based mail???

    I use Thunderbird as my mail program. THAT'S where I had the problems. When I got back to my account and just used the web-based mail, I have no problems.
