Hotmail account repeatedly locked

On Sat Jan 8, 2022, my outlook/hotmail account was temporarily locked due to "unusual activity". I requested a verification code, and my account was unlocked. I changed my password. I logged in OK the next day. I can receive emails, but as soon as I send an email, my account is locked again. What can I do?

    Were you using the program Outlook? Or the web-based outlook?

    In my case I was using Mozilla Thunderbird when the account was locked when an email I tried to send was blocked. But I have no problems with the web-based email.

    BTW, if you have the Outlook the program... can't you just move mail to local storage instead of deleting it?

    There may be other MS support forums out there. I can't believe this "bug" is only happening to the 10-12 people posting here.

    Last week I used this form.... and got a response the next day. I got in, as I did today... and as soon as I tried to send a letter in the unblocked account... I got blocked again.... then had to use my partner's phone to get back in. Then her phone was blocked.

    Hmmm I may be missing a few steps there.

    What's the official reply to this - is there a proper solution or do we still wait and suffer while **** in the dark for answers!!

    This is a HORRIBLE start to the year - I'm in the middle of a job hunt right now and my Hotmail is connected to my LinkedIn, job portals, recruiters etc !( not to mention banking, insurance, credit cards, bills and all the important services like other people here)

    I'm using this since 10 years and I hope deleting my sent mail history isn't the solution to this!! I can delete very old mails but certainly not the sent mails from last couple of yrs! I think I'm going to migrate all emails when this is sorted and bin this garbage account for good, Gmail is much better than this pathetic service from MS!

    I wish there was some way to take a poll... whether the problem started with the web-based mail or with a email program like Outlook or Thunderbird. It's confusing with Outlook is both.

    My suspicions are the problem is with the latter... but without that data.

    Of course that doesn't explain the "quota exceeded" bug trying to get a text by phone.

    I'm glad I'm not alone because that would suggest I did something wrong, or my account was hacked.

    Clearly the issue is entirely on MS's end.
