My outlook ribbon's font size is suddenly massive. How do I change it back to a reasonable size like the rest of the app?

I tried changing app text size settings on my computer but this shrunk everything else. I just want to reduce the size of the RIBBON ONLY in my outlook app. No clue why this has happened.

As you can see below, the ribbon is very large but the rest of the app is normal, as it should be. Please help.

Here is a crazy fix that I found...

Seems that when you start Outlook the Ribbon is an inconsistent font to that of the Calendar (which in my case was the correct font). The fix:

  • Open Calendar in a NEW window (right click on the calendar icon on the bottom left of the Outlook form - choose "Open in New Window")
  • Close the Outlook Mail Window. This will leave the Calendar window the only active Outlook window
  • On the Calendar Window - Right Click on the Envelope icon and choose "Open in New Window"

Your font will be restored back to the smaller font..

Crazy but true!!

Remember - if you can't explain it - Feature it!!

I had the same problem, and by chance, fixed it simply by changing the screen resolution to 125% from 100%. This balanced ribbon sixze with the rest of the screen, and it stayed good even when I reverted to 100%

Unfortunately I couldn't get Robert's solution to work (fyi I run with Calibri size 8 as my Mail / Calendar font) on my new device, and whilst Sultan's is not a targeted solution (and therefore unlikely to help if someone's issue is with the Outlook Ribbon / Ribbon Icon size being either extremely large or extremely small) there is some merit in this response.

My Windows Settings / System / Display on my new device was set to 150% which was making the Ribbon / Ribbon Icon and 'Next 2 Month's Calendar' size too big so that I was losing valuable information.

Adjusting it to 125% helped a lot on terms of reducing the overall 'display size' saving me from having to consider if it is possible to apply different font and 'tighter spacing' settings in different Outlook windows for different functions (e.g Mail and Calendar).

But as you can't choose a custom percentage (the only options are 100%, 125%, 150% and 175% it is of limited use as a wider solution.
I don't really understand why there isn't more granularity to the available options here, especially if you can't custom the Ribbon itself.

Thanks so much! My ribbon got extremely small and this solution worked 100% to get it back to the former size.
