Outlook calendar 'changes' appointment into a meeting after editing.

I started to experience the same issue from about the same time (April 2018).

I use Outlook as a desktop client (from Office 365 Business Premium) on Windows 10 (1803).

I also use iOS devices - iPad and iPhone 8 both running iOS 11.3.

I use both Outlook and the built-in calendar on iOS, and the issue  affects both, in slightly different ways.

On the Outlook desktop client, I have a few mailboxes synching, including an Office 365 one. But it is only the calendar of my Outlook.com mailboax that has the following symptoms.

a) I create an appointment (not a meeting) on Outlook on the desktop

b) If I subsequently try to amend it on iOS, I get:

     i) On Outlook on iOS, I am unable to amend the appintment, as it appears to be a meeting arranged by someone else (the organiser is my outlook.com email address)

    ii) On the iOS calendar, I can edit it, but it sends a meeting update from my outlook.com email address to my Outlook.com email address.

On both iOS calendar clients, the meeting shows my outllok.com email address as the meeting organiser, and as an additional participant.

It has only started happening recently, and only affects Outlook.com appointments.

As I read this it seems to be exactly the same issue as my original post. Definitely an Outlook/Outlook.com issue. Thank you for your confirmation and input Gbyars

Hi all,

Just wanted to update that the root cause of the issue has been determined and the Outlook.com team is working on a change that will address the issue.  Due to the nature of the change it will probably take a couple weeks for it to deploy and propagate through the service.  This is all still being worked so if you have support cases opened about this it may take time for us to get engineers fully updated with status but this is what we know for now.  I know this has taken a while to get traction on and apologize for the delay.

I have started to experience the same issue since about the same time (April 2018).

I use Outlook (Office 365) on Windows 10 (1803) for a desktop email client.

I have a few mailboxes synching on this client - including Outlook.com and Office365.

The issue only happens with Outlook,com email address.

Any appointments I create in my Outlook.com calendar in Outlook on the desktop show as appointments in Outlook on the desktop.

However, on iOS (11.3 on iphone 8), the following behavious is observer:

a) In the iOS built in Calendar, I can edit the appointment, but it then treats the appointment as a meeting, sending a meeting update back to my outlook.com email address.

My outlook.com address is shown as both the organiser and an attendee in the "meeting" on iOS

b) In the Outlook mail client on iOS, I am unable to edit the appointment. It shows as a meeting with Organiser being my outlook.com email address, and the same outlook.com email address as a participant

Somehow, iOS (Outlook and inbuilt Calendar) seem to be unable to tell that the "organiser" is me.

I have the same issues - Appointments created in Outlook (PC) appear as meeting in Outlook for IOS App and so cannot be edited.  My calendar account is my outlook 365 account, although I use Gmail as my default mail account.   I have been using any one of 3 workarounds -

1 In Outlook PC I open the mail section and select my 'gmail' account, then use menu tab for new item.  Create an appointment and this for some strange reason creates an event that appears as an Appointment (and is thus editable) in Outlook for IOS.

2 In outlook PC Calendar create an Appointment and invite myself (i.e. create a meeting) - this does the opposite of what creating a appointment does - a fully editable event is created in Outlook for IOS!  Only drawback is that changes create email updates.

3 In Outlook for IOS, create an event - this can then be edited on Outlook PC without affecting it in Outlook for IOS.   It can also be used as a blank appointment that can be copied and used to create other appointments in outlook PC that appear as appointments in Outlook for IOS and thus fully editable.
