My google pixel 2 phone recently updated the outlook app. Now the app crashes on startup. I tried clearing the cache and uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Ive removed my work account as well. Still will not work. I get as far as the adding account page then it crashes and ask to send a report.

Bryan, even i have the exact same issue on my samsung phone. As soon as i open the app, it tries to load and within seconds it closes. After trying for 10-15 times, once or so it stays there stable but for a minute or so and then it closes. Clicking on anything e.g. settings brings the app down.

I wanted to put this out for everyone. My Outlook email crashes also, each time I open it. It started this morning and then about an hour later I get a call from some India guy! He say's he's with Microsoft and that someone or some others have been using my account to send explicit messages and pictures!  He stated that Homeland Security notified them and that he was out of the main office in N.Y. I told him I wasn't falling for it because I have in the past, I told him I'm not letting them access my information and hung up.  I waited about 10 minutes and called back 1-855-200-0296, he answered "this is John". I told him my name and told him that Homeland Security would not be contacting a call center to contact me!!! Anyway, sorry for the long story but this is only happening on my phone and not my computer. All in all I think our Outlook accounts and anything that goes with it have been hacked!

    Jon

It crashes no matter if you use wifi or cellular when opening the app. Airplane mode with all data connections off stops it from crashing.

I have discovered that when you turn off all data. I.e. put your phone in airplane mode, it does not crash.

    Still investigating***

I think it is a connecting to server crash at this point.

I will update with more discoveries soon.
