Running Outlook on the iMac causes the screen to flicker and eventually black out and reduce to half/split screen display.

If I don't run the Outlook app the Mac runs like clockwork.

With Outlook active, at some point the flickering begins and then gets progressively worse until the screen is completed fuzzed or it pops back to a half black screen (which continues to flicker intermittently - more often than not)

Whilst it sounds like a hardware issue (and I've ordered a new Mac thinking it was!) it appears to be tied to Outlook.

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)

3.3 GHz Intel Core i5

8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

AMD Radeon R9 M395 2048 MB

Mac OS 10.14.1 (18B75)

Outlook 16.19

Rebooting seems to clear it until we run Outlook again, then the cycle continues.

    I just took our (Pensacola State College) 2016 iMac to an Apple authorized service center for the display flickering issue.  They replaced the hard drive AND display.  Still having the same issue.  Obviously not a defective display or OS issue.  We are checking into the Skype theory.

    I checked/set the "Low Resolution" option in Outlook on our iMac that some recommended here and more than 2 days later the issue has not returned.

    I also had an issue with Outlook menus and sidebars going black intermittently on my Windows 10 PC using Outlook 2016 and even after I upgraded to 365.  The menus and sidebars would go black after a few minutes (never actually timed it) of inactivity.  All I had to do to bring them back was click anywhere inside the window.  I checked/set the "Disable hardware graphics acceleration" in the Outlook Options and that seems to have resolved this issue also.

    I installed 10.14.6 this morning, and since that, no problem with outlook 16.27 in high resolution !

    I keep crossing my fingers 🤞, but it seems to solve the issue.

    Likewise.  The issue has finally resolved itself with this update. 

    Joining the conversation now after following the progress. I'm still having the issue with 10.14.6 installed. Going to give the resolution change a try as the flickering is a daily occurrence now.

    I have been experimenting with this issue for months. 

    The problem seems to be with my iMac default resolution of 2560x1440. If i change the resolution up or down, I get no more flickering. 

    I set my resolution to 2880x1620 and its working fine. 

    I have to say that the performance of Outlook is really really slow, especially after I upgraded 10.14. Its been a disaster ever since as my whole iMac is suffering from a performance ever since the upgrade. Thats for another post.

    On my side, the probleme occured after a bigger amount of time of use, but it still occured :/

    Back to low resolution mode...
