Autofill disabled on new Microsoft login page. ANNOYING!!!

It appears there is now a new login page for Outlook Live Online which is the main login for all Microsoft accounts. It also appears this new page is blocking the autofill feature on Chrome for the user name. I have been meaning to switch to another email client for some time now and this is definitely the last straw which has put me over the edge.  Anyone know anything about this?

    This did nothing for my Firefox and the sign-in.  Did I miss something?

    timbowO,

    If you look at the post by Cynicidal Couchpotato (just prior to your post above), Cynicidal Couchpotato says that my solution worked for him/her. So, I suspect that you did miss something, but it's hard for me to determine what that is.

    These steps can help to determine if you have correctly installed the script ...

    1. Open Firefox.
    2. In the menu at the top of the screen, click Tools.
    3. In the drop down, click Add-ons.
    4. A new tab (Add-ons Manager) will open.
    5. Click the Add-ons Manager tab.
    6. Look at the list of options in the column on left side of screen.
    7. Click User Scripts. If you do not see an option named User Scripts, then perhaps you did not get the Greasemonkey add-on installed correctly. If you see "User Scripts" then continue to next step.
    8. In the column on right side, look for a script that says "Enable auto-complete in MS Sign-on page". If you do not have a script named "Enable auto-complete in MS Sign-on page" then somehow the script did not get installed.
    9. Click that script named "Enable auto-complete in MS Sign-on page"
    10. On the right side of the entry for that script, look for a button that says "Options". Each script listed will have an "Options" button, you want the "Options" button that corresponds to the script named "Enable auto-complete in MS Sign-on page"
    11. Verify that the button to the right of the Options button (for the script named "Enable auto-complete in MS Sign-on page") says DISABLE (I know that seems strange, but if the button says DISABLE, that means the script is enabled). If the button says DISABLE, then continue to next step. If the button says ENABLE, then click it once and it will change to DISABLE. In that case, you have just enabled the script. Try signing on to Outlook a few times to see if the problem with autocomplete is resolved.
    12. If the button to the right of OPTIONS already says DISABLE, then click the OPTIONS button.
    13. A Greasemonkey User Script Preferences window will open.
    14. Near the bottom of the window will be a button that says "Edit this user script".
    15. Click that button.
    16. A notepad window will open showing the script. If you get this far then the script is installed. You can copy and paste the script into your next post in this thread, and I will verify that the script is correct.
    17. Then click the rex X in the upper right of the notepad window to close that window.
    18. Then click the CANCEL button in the bottom right of the Greasemonkey User Script Preferences window.
    19. Close the Add-ons Manager Tab.

    If at any of the above steps, you do not see the appropriate windows or buttons or script, etc, let me know and perhaps I can help you figure out what went wrong.

    timbowO,

    The script you listed in your previous reply is not right. The script should look like this:

    // ==UserScript==

    // @author         langware

    // @version        1.0.0

    // @name           Enable auto-complete in MS Sign-on page

    // @include        https://login.live.com/\*

    // @date           May 9, 2016

    // @run-at         document-idle

    // @grant          none

    // ==/UserScript==

    var elmLink = document.getElementById("i0281");

    if (elmLink != null)

        {

        elmLink.removeAttribute("autocomplete");

        }

    I recommend that you delete the script you have, and then reinstall the correct script.

    First, what version of Firefox are you using? (in Firefox's menu at top of screen, click HELP and then About Firefox).

    Second, verify that you have the correct version of Greasemonkey installed. Click TOOLS then Add-Ons. In left column of Add-ons Manager tab, click EXTENSIONS. Look for Greasemonkey. Under the word "Greasemonkey" you will see "A User Script Manager for Firefox". Next to that, you will see a link that says "More". Click that link. You will then see a page that says Greasemonkey 3.8 at top ... if it does not say Greasemonkey 3.8, then you do not have the correct version of Greasemonkey.

    Next, delete the script you have. In the Add-ons Manager Tab, click USER SCRIPTS (in the left column). Find the entry for "Enable auto-complete in MS Sign-on page" and look for a button (right side of the entry for "Enable auto-complete in MS Sign-on page") that says REMOVE. Click that button.

    Now, reinstall the script. Open a notepad window. In the menu at top of notepad window, click FORMAT. Make sure that the choice for WORD WRAP is NOT checked. Select and copy the script that I included at the beginning of this post and paste it into the notepad window. Then save the notepad window using a file name such as this: fix_autocomplete.txt

    After the script has been saved, use FileExplorer to locate and rename the file. Change the name to this:  fix_autocomplete.user.js  (you will remove the .txt extension from the name and add the extension .user.js   )

    Now, open a Firefox window and go to a blank page. Also open a File Explorer window to the script you just renamed. Then drag and drop the script file from the File Explorer window to the blank page in the Firefox window. You should see a pop-up in Firefox asking permission to install the script.

    When that is done, try signing on to Outlook to see if you get autocomplete ... you may have to sign on once and manually enter your entire email address (so Firefox can remember it). Then sign out of Outlook and sign in again .... hopefully this time autocomplete will work when you start typing the first character of your email address.

    Hi again, thanks for all your help and time this is taking you.  Ok, Im running the latest of both programs, Firefox and grease monkey.  Followed all your instructions, however when I drag the file into the blank Firefox window I get no pop up asking to install the script, nothing at all, though the script on the page looks like your now instead of mine.
