Managing personal Outlook.com account settings, security, and privacy
timbowO,
The script you listed in your previous reply is not right. The script should look like this:
// ==UserScript==
// @author langware
// @version 1.0.0
// @name Enable auto-complete in MS Sign-on page
// @include https://login.live.com/\*
// @date May 9, 2016
// @run-at document-idle
// @grant none
// ==/UserScript==
var elmLink = document.getElementById("i0281");
if (elmLink != null)
{
elmLink.removeAttribute("autocomplete");
}
I recommend that you delete the script you have, and then reinstall the correct script.
First, what version of Firefox are you using? (in Firefox's menu at top of screen, click HELP and then About Firefox).
Second, verify that you have the correct version of Greasemonkey installed. Click TOOLS then Add-Ons. In left column of Add-ons Manager tab, click EXTENSIONS. Look for Greasemonkey. Under the word "Greasemonkey" you will see "A User Script Manager for Firefox". Next to that, you will see a link that says "More". Click that link. You will then see a page that says Greasemonkey 3.8 at top ... if it does not say Greasemonkey 3.8, then you do not have the correct version of Greasemonkey.
Next, delete the script you have. In the Add-ons Manager Tab, click USER SCRIPTS (in the left column). Find the entry for "Enable auto-complete in MS Sign-on page" and look for a button (right side of the entry for "Enable auto-complete in MS Sign-on page") that says REMOVE. Click that button.
Now, reinstall the script. Open a notepad window. In the menu at top of notepad window, click FORMAT. Make sure that the choice for WORD WRAP is NOT checked. Select and copy the script that I included at the beginning of this post and paste it into the notepad window. Then save the notepad window using a file name such as this: fix_autocomplete.txt
After the script has been saved, use FileExplorer to locate and rename the file. Change the name to this: fix_autocomplete.user.js (you will remove the .txt extension from the name and add the extension .user.js )
Now, open a Firefox window and go to a blank page. Also open a File Explorer window to the script you just renamed. Then drag and drop the script file from the File Explorer window to the blank page in the Firefox window. You should see a pop-up in Firefox asking permission to install the script.
When that is done, try signing on to Outlook to see if you get autocomplete ... you may have to sign on once and manually enter your entire email address (so Firefox can remember it). Then sign out of Outlook and sign in again .... hopefully this time autocomplete will work when you start typing the first character of your email address.
