It appears there is now a new login page for Outlook Live Online which is the main login for all Microsoft accounts. It also appears this new page is blocking the autofill feature on Chrome for the user name. I have been meaning to switch to another email client for some time now and this is definitely the last straw which has put me over the edge.  Anyone know anything about this?

    I have the same problem.

    The Forum Moderators and Community Moderators here cannot fix this bug. Only Microsoft developers can fix this bug.

    Follow these steps to report this problem to Microsoft developers ....

    1. Go to this page:  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/id-support
    2. Click on "I am having trouble signing in"
    3. A page will open where you can describe the problem signing in (i.e., auto-complete not working when typing the first few characters of your ID into the new Microsoft Account sign in page).
    4. Click the Submit button.

    You will get email with a case number. Then you may get email with a scripted reply telling you to enable auto-complete in your browser. Verify that auto-complete is working in your browser by signing on to other sites you use (such as netflix, gmail, facebook, etc and typing the first few characters of your ID). Then respond to the email you received and tell them that auto-complete works on other sites ... it just does not work on the new Microsoft Account sign in page. Be persistent and eventually your case will get escalated to a higher level.

    If enough people complain, Microsoft will fix this problem.

    Cynicidal Couchpotato,

    I received a similar email. I agree with you ... it's total BS.

    Auto-complete in the Microsoft sign on page was a useful feature ... many people used it. Some Microsoft manager made a decision to remove the feature .... and does not even have the courtesy, professionalism, or courage to provide customers with the reason for that decision.

    Others (Netflix, gmail, Facebook to name a few) support auto-complete in their sign on page, yet all Microsoft can do is show their disrespect for customers by refusing to even explain why the feature was removed.

    As I explained in my previous posts in this thread .... there is a simple work-around ... use Firefox, install the free add-on that runs scripts (Greasemonkey), and use the script I posted ... the script will enable autocomplete in the Microsoft sign on page.

    Kjshanahann,

    I agree with you, Microsoft does not seem to care about customer satisfaction.

    It would be  very easy for Microsoft to enable auto-complete in the sign on page by setting autocomplete="on" ... but it appears they are not going to do that ... and they are not going to admit that they have purposely disabled auto-complete (in the sign on page).

    At the very least, they could provide an explanation for why they have disabled auto-complete ... but it appears that they are not going to do that either.

    Poor customer service.

    If you feel comfortable installing user scripts,  you can run one of the scripts I referred to in my previous post in this thread. Those scripts will enable auto-complete in the sign on page.

    If you would rather not run user scripts, then (as you said) using a non-Microsift mail service is an option. I would recommend gmail.

    This obviously isn't a bug but rather a security decision by Microsoft.  I disagree with the decision, but it's still just that.  As far as "fixing" the code, the code that blocks autofill is pretty much just 2 words (autocomplete = "off") and if you remove the words it allows autofill without affecting anything else.  So it is really a pretty simple thing they have done.  I've taken care of this on my Mac using Tampermonkey with Chrome (Greasemonkey with Firefox) and an extremely short script.  The first part is just the basic script header.  The actual script is literally 2 short lines which remove the part of the code that turns off autofill:

    // ==UserScript==

    // @name         Microsoft Autofill

    // @namespace    http://tampermonkey.net/

    // @version      1.0

    // @description  Fix Hotmail

    // @author       Schmactor

    // @match        https://login.live.com/\*

    // @grant        none

    // ==/UserScript==

    var elmLink = document.getElementById('i0281');

    elmLink.removeAttribute('autocomplete');
